I stopped vibing with it around summer, idk why. It had something to do with the atmosphere being too bland and I was just a bit lost with my rendering style. Then, around New Years, I picked it up again and started reteaching myself how to use these more painterly brushes to render, and the rest is history!
I'm still on the journey of discovering how to do this stuff properly, so I'll take you along on my exploration journey, but so far, I'm really loving it!
I don't think I've mentioned this before, but alongside the BA/MA in Animation, I'm also a graphic designer by trade! The reason I don't mention this is because I'm a real shitty fucking graphic designer LMFAO, I don't do that to make a living for a reason :,D I'm a sculptor by heart besides the illustration/animation/writing thing, and the reason I enrolled for a graphic's department was mainly because they had an animation as a final exam, but in general I get a headache while designing logos and stuff like that lmao
ANYWAY, the thing graphic design taught me is the magic of "less is more" in art, and the shape language, color language, and a bunch of pretty useful stuff like that. I have had a massive love for abstract art since high school and I've always really wanted to incorporate the things I've learned in graphic design into my illustrations in a way that doesn't take away from their illustrative approach, if you get what I'm saying. It's something I'm gonna heavily use when it comes to book illustrations/covers, so I'm trying to experiment with some illustrations now, to see what direction I wanna take.

AND YOU'RE SO RIGHT YES!! like ofc I do animation for a job so I had to get over this stubborness issue of not wanting to do something when I'm told HAHA but that's sooo real, whenever someone tells me to come up with a story, it's like my brain shuts down out of spite 🤣

Waiting for this moment now to complete it has probably made it sooooo much better!! I love it so much. lol ediiiit** my kiddo knocked my phone out of my hand while I was typing.*** lol but honestly, I get the design thing too. Like you have to be into it hardcore to really spark that grand design haha, also I don’t know about you, but I’m always less motivated when someone TELLS me to design something. Lolol

I love how it ended up looking so i'm almost glad i waited until i started experimenting with the brushes ❤️ AND EXACTLY! Sometimes it's good to take a break so you kinda see where you can improve, it helps a ton! AWW BUT YOU'RE SO SWEET AAH 😭❤️ i guess I have some moments of clarity when it comes to design HAHAH, I think I'd just perhaps struggle doing it outside of the story, I was always getting headaches while trying to create like logos and environments for my student films and stuff like that hahah grimport keeps me endlessly inspired tho ❤️

It’s freaking amazing! I totally understand the lost feeling with the art style for certain times, but mannnn you sure did find it again and went off with it like amazingly!! I love that!! Sometimes breaks do us good! And you always create some complex pieces, too!! So I can imagine the overbearing feeling of being lost sometimes! 😭😭 And omg don’t sayyyy thattt! I so can’t even imagine you being a bad graphic designer! Haha you have designed the coolest OCs and an environment around them, along with the items they wear! Like!! That takes some good design work! I know it’s a bit different, but still! Haha you are amazing! I don’t doubt that! Haha
