A longer speedpaint of the Dawn work from the Fiasco Elite days!
✦•····•✦•···•✦
I always feel like a bunch of details get lost in fast speedpaints, especially when I wanna look back on how I did a certain thing, so I always save these long vids just in case and thought - heck, maybe some of you can get some use from them too haha
I have kind of always struggled not enjoying the entire process of art creation, which severely skewed how I approached illustrations. For example, I enjoyed sketching and lining, I enjoyed final rendering and base coloring, but the entire process of painting between the base color and full render was absolutely miserable. I didn't like the feeling of seeing unfinished pieces in their "ugly" stage and had to find a way to make the "ugly" stage pleasant enough not to get discouraged immediately haha. At the end of the day, I'm not a painter, I'm an animator, and I simply do not have a good way of seeing the piece past the "ugly" stage unless I have a linework there to guide me or something
And thus, we have this weird Frankenstein technique that really keeps me interested the entire time I work on the piece. The "ugly" stage is mostly just blurry, and it allows me to enjoy the lining process, as well as get a finished, rendered piece that doesn't fully rely on them, rather uses the line to enhance edges where they need to be enhanced.
I have, since, gotten a bit more comfortable leaving paint strokes here and there which you'll definitely see in the future posts ♥
