Commissions and Prices

So, details have certainly been lacking on my end in terms of the pricing scheme for commissions, how they work, and all of that.
The system I'm putting into place will have two versions:
1) Suggestions/Requests
This will be considered part of the Patreon Tier, and has no further charge. Basically, you can message me and we can discuss topics/ideas/etc that you would like to see, and I can (as my choosing) integrate them into projects as I go.
This will be fairly non-committal, but it enables my Patrons to have direct impact on what I'm writing!
These would be public, and would count as my usual fortnightly posting!
2) Paid Commissions
Paid commissions will be more formal, as I do not have open commissions in general. They will kept private, and will not be posted to my Patreon without the payer's permission, though my preference would be to post them publicly.
My base rate will be £200 per 10,000 words, scalable.
(This means that 1000 words would be £20, 40,000 words would be £800)
As you are my Patrons, the Tier Pricing amount for two months will be deducted from that (in GBP). For example, if you have pledged £11 per month, you will get a £22 discount from any commissions where that would be applicable; if you pledge £50 per month, you get £100 worth of discount on commissions.
THIS IS A TRIAL SYSTEM
I plan to use this system for a few months, see if it is viable and sustainable!

This would definitely be something to consider, yes! As each commission would be different, that would come into the negotiation/discussion stage of it, but for larger commissions at least partial payment upfront would be likely. I'll have a think about how I'd want to do that, but most sources I've looked at recommend half upfront, half upon delivery.

2021-09-09 11:22:47 +0000 UTCOr another thing you should probably clarify in general is how you would handle payment. Since you give the option of large scale and expensive commissions it should probably be sensible to do partly up front payments am I right?
