Youโre definitely not overthinking it at all. HxH specifically and anime in general has helped me a lot in my life too. The whole show overall isnโt anything too crazy but for some reason, their words hit.

To explain Kurapika's scene: he was holding a funeral for his fallen clan members whose eyes he retrieved, that's why he wasn't answering Leorio's calls.
That being said, I'd like to thank you for your genuine reactions to Hunter x Hunter! As someone who only got into the series last year, I think you're going to enjoy what's to come.
To know more about Kurapika's adventures, it's time to READ THE MANGA!! He's basically the protagonist right now as Gon and Killua have parted ways for now. The manga's a good read as it introduces new characters and adds more depth to familiar faces.
Here's the fan made opening of the next arc that you CAN check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7j5ADtArpk&ab_channel=RionStudio

Watch the movies! They're non-canon but if you wanna see some fan service of the characters before saying goodbye to the show, they're a decent watch! The first movie called Phantom Rogue, has canon elements about it that show Kurapika's past.
