Giving Stiles, the adorkable, tiny, squishiest party member: magical powers. (Or making him into a werewolf, vampire, whatever). Point is that's way more likely than you think. No matter how much Avery isn't Stiles, some artifacts stick around long after the story morphs into something entirely unique.
