I had a feeling he was starting to think Gannet was only with him because he knew about his wings (the scene where they found Luke, Gannet never said he liked Bailey instead only that he dropped it for "obvious reasons" and Bailey glanced at his wings). It's great to see that Gannet now accepts his feelings for him and wants to reassure him even if it IS embarrassing.
