No need to apologize. It's fun to guess. Getting it wrong some times is just part of the game. In the burnt out bar, when Steve is mourning his friend's death, we get a hint about why Steve could survive in the ice for so long. He says, "Dr Erskine said that the serum wouldn't just affect my muscles, that it would affect my cells, create a protective system of regeneration and healing." In the scene, it meant that Steve couldn't get drunk. We are meant to infer that this regeneration is why Steve couldn't freeze to death either. As explanations go, it is no more or less silly than any other superhero power.
