GUESS WHAT... WE'RE OFFICIALLY BEGINNING COBRA KAI ๐ฅฐ๐๐ฅ๐ด and lmfaooo I absolutely am LOVING the vibe so far.
It has this nostalgic 80s aesthetic, mixed in with some humor and well-aged and played classic characters that make the experience so incredibly enjoyable thus far.
I was SUPER hesitant about how I would take it, but trust me, if you're on the fence - GIVE IT A TRY. ITS WORTH IT.
I've never personally been huge into the topic of karate but The Karate Kid films and Cobra Kai made it really worth it AND if you're not a huge fan, know it's not ONLY about Karate. It's a journey.
So lets sit back, relax and enjoy together hehe ๐ฅฐ๐ค

There was a show called "How I met your mother" and in it one of the characters theorized that Johnny was actually the hero of The Karate Kid and Daniel was the villain. And this show kind of pays that off.

2024-07-17 21:19:38 +0000 UTCI've only seen this first episode. Wasn't really into the 'aging tough guy that peaked in high school with a chip on his shoulder' story. But I was a little interested since the Karate Kid films was such a big influence on my youth even though I never liked Larusso's motor-mouth, lol. Made complete sense that he went into Car Dealerships, lol, always tried selling people on his ideas and never shuts up about it. The only thing that redeemed it for me was that he was hustling and he never went to big on the empty promises that most motor-mouths do. He kept it honest and took responsibility for his mistakes and failures. He used his natural chatterbox skill to actually help people rather than just his own interests like so many hustlers before him and even more today. When he offered the car repairs on the house, you know he was still good ol' Daniel-san. Anyway, its a good excuse to finally get into the show with you watching too, V.

Can't wait for this, you're gonna love it! Oh, and just as a reminder (it will come up), Peter Cetera was the lead singer of the band Chicago and then went solo scoring his first #1 hit with, "Glory of Love" for The Karate Kid II.

Be it cinema, be it video game remakes; all of these things have mixed results but more often than not, reboots tend to be lacking. This series is not the rule; it is the exception, and as such, it is exceptional. The casting. The easter eggs and callbacks (some of which you'll notice, some you might not at first, as some are very very subtle) - the writing. I'm so happy you decided to give this show a shot!
