Rocky Balboa (2006) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Rocky Balboa (2006) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

Rocky basically has a Will Smith moment in this movie. Keep my friend's name out of your mouth and send her some apologies!

Jason Dolan

Pleeeaase don't make us wait 2 weeks for Creed!

Ellie Miller

I don't remember the movie that well, but you might want to remove the spoiler, coz once you see stuff you can't unsee it, just to be safe. You can save this to post the spoiler portion of this when the movie goes live. Coz if Sam sees this she won't be able to unsee it. No offense or anything just they like to know nothing about the films they watch.

Alex

Ha, I thought I was the only one that has Rocky 2 as their favorite. Except for 5, they're all great though I understand why some love 5 as well.

Angel Pagan

Glad y'all enjoyed this one. I could see yall were feeling it when you found out Adrian had passed away. This was a good bookend for the Rocky franchise. They ended it the right way. Now, on to Creed.

Jah (jakwiq) (Jah Quick)

Great read. I agree. I actually have the tendency to go to my old stomping grounds many times and reminisce. You explained perfectly why 6 is so special. As far as Creed part 2 [--SPOILER DONT READ ANYONE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT--), my anger actually about it is I could very well tell the studio and director were pushing Rocky to the side in a plan to rid him of the franchise. Even Rocky scenes abandoned Rocky music themes. Idk, I get it that people say it's Creeds franchise now, passing the torch etc Yada Yada, but I'm just not of that party. I love Rocky and Rocky is why I watch. Hes not in part 3 and I could tell that was the plan in part 2. I personally think it's disrespectful. Of course I loved seeing Rocky scenes in it and I loved the Drago/son storyline but I just couldn't get over pushing Sly to the side. He created the whole thing. Anyhow, that's my opinion lol. And I know it's not a popular one but I stand by it. End SPOILER]

This is one of those movies that is just true to real life, aging and growing up. It's sad that Adrian died but sometimes that stuff happens in life. When I was a kid in Miami there was this arcade and amusement center called "Mark Twain's Riverboat Playhouse" and also a place called "Pirates" which was this huge water park and massive indoor arcade with like fish nets and all kinds of stuff to climb on. All of it's closed down now.. and it's like really nostalgic going around to places that closed down but it's also very sad. Things change. Life moves forward, you lose people. I've lost a lot of people. So that's why I think Rocky Balboa is a great movie, you know.. Movies don't have to be all sunshine and rainbows all the time.. Sometimes really sad movies that don't have happy endings are really good. And I usually hate 'em. They make me cry and boy do I hate 'em.. like Gran Turino.. That movie made me mad, and it made me cry. But yeah Spider Rico is the guy Rocky was fighting in Rocky 1 that Mick kept saying was a bum. He wouldn't give him credit because he said Spider Rico's a bum! And Mason Dixon's old manager !!! Robert E !!!! He played Robert E on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. And that motivational speech is the stuff of legend. It has been around motivational circles since the movie came out. Made a bunch of rounds on social media and there's even some music tracks that sampled that speech. I think movies like this really evoke emotion in people that can relate to the situations in the film. I talked about things changing and places you grew up around not being there anymore.. Ghost World is kind of like that for me. You go back to your old neighborhood and you don't hardly recognize it. Everything is different. I'm posting this really late, coz I watched the movie this morning. I'm about to watch Cobra Kai episode 10 now :DD So I will catch you guys later. :) And btw, Creed 1 and 2 are still Rocky movies even if it's not called Rocky coz I mean they're basically still telling the story of the people in that universe. Which makes me think .. The Next Karate Kid is kind of like the Miyagi-verse's Creed, except obviously it involves a character never before seen. People hate on it but it's got the last we will ever see of Mr. Miyagi in there.

[Accidentally deleted my original comment lol retrying it here...] It was nice to experience this reaction with you both on this Easter. The Rocky franchise I don't know what my life would have been without it. I cried throughout with you guys even though I've already seen this over 50 times πŸ˜†. At first when I heard there would be no Adrian I was upset, I thought, "How is there no Adrian in a Rocky film?" But then when I saw it, Sly definitely did her justice. Her spirit was in the entire film. There's a great deleted scene btw where Paulie cries in the alley before walking away at Adrian's restaurant. They should have kept this in.. https://youtu.be/Ugg6NDxwGF4 These movies were so big for my family. Especially my brother and I. There was a time we came on some decent money, we had a choice to make, go big with our family business which was custom auto show and concert event, which was very risky, or go back to a 9 to 5. We both went and saw the first showing of Rocky Balboa and it just hit us in all the right spots. We walked out to the car outside the theater and I remember my brother looking at me and he said "F*** it, let's do it", (when everyone told us not to), and we went on to produce the biggest outdoor custom car show and concert event in South Texas history, and still hold that record to this day. My brother passed recently and I'll always remember those moments, those memories. Much of our successes, as weird as it may sound came from us living and breathing Rocky quotes, or other phililosophies from other Stallone movies like Over the Top and Lock Up. The music was a big part of our lives too from the Rockys and Over the Top. Measure of a Man by Elton John was one of them from Rocky V. So much influence in anything we did. The day Stallone dies, a part of me will too. He doesn't get enough credit for writing that entire franchise, directing most of it and his acting. The only other film just as inspirational as any Rocky film is Rudy with Sean Astin so I can't wait for yall to react to that one. Over the Top has a Rocky inspiring vibe. Creed 1 is a great film and I appreciated it so much bc it allowed me to keep enjoying Rocky. I could watch a million Rockys, I'm not the type to say it can end now lol. I'd watch Rocky 25 if I could lol. However, I am not a fan of Creed 2. And I never ever thought there would be a Rocky film I wouldn't like. I'll tell later why I didn't like part 2 bc I dont want to spoil much but I feel I have a valid reason. I just wish Sly had one more Rocky in him, away from the Creed franchise. Although again, I do love Creed 1. For me that's where it ends. Btw the Rocky statue is still there. It was taken away for a while bc the art museum I think didn't consider it real art but it was argued and they brought it back. It's at the bottom of the steps. I have yet to visit those steps but I know if I ever get to, I'll cry like a baby haha. Thanks to you both for reacting to the best movie franchise ever. πŸ‘ Forgive my long stories, I just get passionate about my favorite films. Rocky, Just like Myagis teachings are about all life. #Rocky #OneMoreRound

The Rocky movies are my favorite, seen them probably more times than almost any other films. It's partly a hometown Philadelphia thing for me and it's partly because of the story and Stallone's portrayal of a fictional hero that aways feels real. That's the special thing about Rocky, in all of the movies. They feel so real because the emotions in them are always true. The victories, the defeats, the sadness and the joy are relatable and related well to the audience by Stallone and a great cast. Talia Shire, Burgess Meredith, Burt Young, Carl Weathers, Tony Burton and the rest all added their own pieces to the puzzle and made these films even more special. It's been so great rewatching all six of these with you guys. Rocky is a hero here in Philadelphia and he's been with me since I was just a kid. It was fun seeing you discover all this for the first time. Thanks.

Mike Tocci

With the Rocky series complete, I'd love to see you add Grudge Match to your watch list. I've mentioned it before - Stallone and DeNiro playing old, ex-boxers who have a rematch in their 70s. It's a fun film.

Donna Castellano

This is such a good movie! Honestly, having Adrian be dead was easily the best creative decision they made. Adrian was there for Rocky and was his main support, but that dynamic had already been done five times already. With Adrian gone, Rocky enters unknown territory. He has to navigate life without his greatest support. It opens up so many possibilities to explore with his character.

Jeffrey Miller

Having Adrian be dead was a very good decision and honestly I think there is no way this movie could have been so good with her still alive. It provides so much new territory to explore.

Jeffrey Miller

After "Rocky V", Stallone wanted to make one more "Rocky" film to close the saga. It took 15 years for him to make it and no studio wanted to put up the money. He finally got the greenlight although the studio put a strict budget on the movie. It was appropriate because the same thing happened on the first "Rocky". At the time, I thought it was a terrible idea to make another "Rocky" film, but after seeing this movie, I'm so glad that Stallone did it. Now you got to watch the two "Creed" movies. I saw "Creed 2" in the theater with my Dad and it was awesome! Stallone really deserved an Oscar for his performance in "Creed". He's often been maligned as an actor and perceived as dumb, but he isn't. Did you know that while he was working on the screenplay for "Rocky" that he painted all of his windows in his apartment black? He did that so he would never know what time of day it was and he wouldn't be distracted from his writing.

Jeff Mills

The fight was filmed in HD and the first round was shot to make it look like an actual fight on HBO. They did a great job! To me, it's the most realistic fight of all the "Rocky" fights.

Jeff Mills

I agree. I missed Adrian being in this, but it kind of works without her being there. However, she's always there, you know?

Jeff Mills

Well I wrote a long story here and it disappeared lol ugh I probably accidentally deleted it, darn lol

Jonathan Patrick

A wonderful Easter to be able to watch this beautiful ending with you guys, or what was considered his last Rocky. I knew you would be emotional, I cried along with you throughout even though I've seen it probably 50 times. πŸ˜† I truly have no idea what my life would have been if the Rocky franchise never existed. Hope you guys get to Over the Top soon as it's a close feeling to Rocky imo. I was so upset about Adrian being gone before actually seeing the movie in 2006. I was like, how can there be Rocky, without Adrian? But when I saw it he totally paid respect to her in the best way. She was in this movie in many ways. Her spirit was everywhere. Long time ago, my brother and I were afraid to do this big event, concerts and car shows we promoted. Go forward in our entertainment business which was so very risky with the money we raised or go back to the 9 to 5 life. We struggled on what we should do, go for the family business or play it safe. We went to see Rocky Balboa, came out so inspired my brother (who passed away recently), looked at me outside the theater, inspired by this Rocky film and said, "F it, let's do it" (when everyone was telling us not to). We went on to produce the biggest outdoor car show and concert combo event in South Texas history. To this day we hold that record. I'll always remember that memory with my brother that I miss so much and we lived our lives through Rocky quotes and music from Stallone movies, and from Over the Top. Measure of a Man from part 5 was huge for us, by Elton John. May sound weird, but these films really inspired much of our successes in life. The day Stallone dies a part of me will too. Creed is great, it let me continue to see Rocky. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of Creed 2 and I never thought in my life that I'd ever not like a Rocky film, but I'll explain later why I don't like Creed 2. For me, it ends with Creed 1, with a hope that somehow in some way Sly can go back and make another Rocky, away from Creed. BTW, the statue is still there. There was a big fight in Philly on whether it was real art. They decided it was and put it at the bottom of the steps. To this day I have not ever visited those steps. But I will say this, the day I do, if ever, I'll cry like baby lol. Thanks for reacting to one of the greatest series of films ever. Only other movie as inspirational to me is Rudy with Sean Astin. Can the world just give Stallone the credit he deserves that he wrote all these films, his acting, and for directing most of them. So underrated his talents are. #OneMoreRound #Rocky

Jonathan Patrick

Creed next yes!

Chris Bode

I didn't expect to get so emotional watching you guys watch this. This was great in the theater. People were cheering like it was a real fight. Can't wait for Sam to see Creed!

Ellie Miller

Also, go on YouTube and look up the Alternate ending to this film!

David Crabtree

Fun fact: the big fight at the end was the first thing they filmed for the movie, that way Stallone could be at and look in peak physical condition for the fight. Then he could just focus on directing and acting for the rest of the film shoot.

David Crabtree

Great reaction! This is my 2nd favorite in the series, behind Rocky 2! You guys have to watch and react to 'Warrior' from 2011, it's like a modern day Rocky film with an interesting twist and a powerful story and performances.

David Crabtree

This film, and this reaction, was a wonderful way to end the Rocky story. It's been great fun enjoying them all again with you. Thanks so much for watching them! By the way, in the original script for Rocky Balboa, Adrian was still alive. But when Stallone talked to Talia Shire (who played Adrian) they both agreed that it didn't do Adrian justice just to be there to object to him fighting again. So Stallone changed the story entirely. In a strange way, I think Adrian had a bigger impact in this Rocky than any of the others, without even being there. The whole film feels haunted by her. Very sad, but right for the story. I'm already looking forward to Creed!

Future Boy

Spider Ricco was the guy Rocky fought in the very first scene of the franchise. He head-butted Rocky which infuriated him and led to Rocky knocking him out. "You really got lucky out there" as they were collecting their measly pay. I love that they brought him back for this. Little Marie was played by a different actor than the first movie.

Eddie Collison

I do hope you guys still do the Creed movies sooner rather than later. You will be genuinely surprised. They carry the mantle and legacy of Rocky AND Apollo extremely well.

EdmanXERO

This is the ONE movie out of the whole series I have never watched. So it was a lot of fun watching it for the first time with you both! Now I have to get the Creed films this week. Also I still think you guys should watch Warrior with Tom Hardy after this. It’s not connected necessarily but it takes place in Philly and has the same heart in that film and tells a great story with brilliant performances.

Jonathon Dragovan

So great to watch this movie with you guys! I was right there with you, Sam, crying like a baby just about the entire movie.

Gary Giaimo

I loved your reactions to the other rocky movies so i downloaded the movie and watch this one along with you guys

Fried Poptarts

Brent

Yo Adrian! Why don't you make the meat!

MARK DESANTIS

Not like I haven't seen it 83 times already! Hahahahahaha

MARK DESANTIS

It's okay. It's a TBR sandwich. Cobra Kai is the bread, Rocky Balboa is the meat. Bon appetit!

Future Boy

dieselbeast
