2022-04-18 00:34:04 +0000 UTCI've commented in the past how Dimitri reminds me exactly of someone I used to know who used to rail me all the time about using a pseudonym and even went way too far the way Dimitri does. It's possible I suppose that that behavior can come from being hurt, but there's really nothing wrong with the way Johnny teaches karate. Kreese was the problem. There was never a problem until Kreese entered the dojo. Kreese is the one who beat up Dimitri (again though, he had it coming. You can't control people like Kreese but you can have good judgment and control of yourself and also awareness of situations). Then Dimitri took the Cobra Kai credit for winning the championship in order to get attentions from girls when he didn't do anything to earn it. If you do that in the military you will likely get your ass kicked if not worse, but at the very least you're gonna lose those friends if you don't resolve the situation. Lots of times in shows they don't show everything and there's stuff that happens that you don't see, and Dimitri didn't seem to care that he was taking the Cobra Kai credit for stuff he didn't do, and he did this more than once. Hawk mentioned it twice. For someone to bring up something twice there has to be a reason for it. You're probably right about why Dimitri is like that, but he is just very miscalibrated around strangers and he doesn't seem to understand the way his behavior comes off. Very small things like taking credit for the tournament win, saying "There's that winning attitude that lost her in the first place," A lot of stuff like that is what screwed up his relationship with Hawk, and in this scene sabotaged him (Dimitri) when he was actually getting through to Hawk. And it was a mistake, but the sleep erinosis or whatever thing was not a mistake, that was deliberate. But that's just how it is. Rivalries are like that, there's some people that will just take it way to the extreme with retaliation after you hurt them. Dimitri is a great equalizer but his initial bucking against Hawk's new image is what started them on this path of separation. I'm not sure if that could've been avoided with how insecure Hawk is about his nerdiness.

2022-04-17 22:17:13 +0000 UTCFrom Demetri's POV, I get it. Cobra Kai not only took his best friend away but took him somewhere Demetri couldn't follow. Not the way Johnny teaches karate, anyway. I've had friends drastically change like that. Sometimes I just wanted to say, "You know, this is a role, it's not who you really are.". That small moment when Demetri mentioned Doctor Who and Hawk got super interested. Then is all suddenly, "oh that's nerd shit, who cares?". I can't say much more without dropping spoilers but Hawk finding a better balance of his two sides helps.

2022-04-16 17:46:25 +0000 UTCThis was a really great episode. I was looking over at Daniel and Sam when Demetri said Sleep Eronisos or whatever it is to see if either one knew what it was. I was surprised that Daniel at least seemed to know that's going too far, but unsure if he actually knew what it was. I think the party wouldn't have been an issue if not for what happened, you know, and also Demetri.. Demetri finally got his chance to tell everyone who Hawk really is. One thing to note here that was good is notice what "Penis Breath" (lol) told Hawk "Remember what sensei said about showing mercy" and Hawk was holding back. Kinda shows that Johnny righted the ship a bit that Kreese took off course.
