One war movie that I canβt find many people how have reacted to is Waterloo. I think it has one of the largest amount of extras used. Has some impressive scenes which are quit Accurately portrayed. Another thatβs impressive is Zulu. But on the same scale.

2022-05-21 13:55:57 +0000 UTCThe Thin Red Line is a great one too

2022-05-11 23:07:41 +0000 UTCI for one think this is a classic.

2022-05-08 14:24:42 +0000 UTCCasualties of War, by the way, is Quentin Tarantinos favorite war film of all time. In fact one of the dramatic emotional scenes of the film inspired his writing of the relationship between characters Mr. White and Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs. Just a lil known fact.

2022-05-01 00:55:39 +0000 UTCWhilst not a classic like some on the list, Kelly's Hero's is worth watching as a feel good movie with plenty of laughs.

2022-04-23 19:57:29 +0000 UTCI'd also love to see The Great Escape. It's another long one, but it's so much fun it doesn't feel like it. I think they would love it.
Future Boy
2022-04-23 11:48:58 +0000 UTCMay not be a popular suggestion, but I'd love to see them get around to The Pianist with Adrien Brody

2022-04-23 07:46:35 +0000 UTCCare to make a suggestion then?

2022-04-23 02:50:27 +0000 UTCNone of the above

2022-04-20 16:48:03 +0000 UTCI'm almost positive they have. Try searching on their YouTube videos--you can do a search of just their channel.

2022-04-18 05:45:26 +0000 UTCI know theres only so many movies you can do, but maybe make some sub genres like seperate war films make a smaller poll of say vietnam films like we were soldiers, born of the fourth, or ww2 films like stalag 17 or the great escape. same for any other genres. just a suggestion not sure if it would make your schedules more hectic but it would give some of the more obscure movies a chance to be seen vs the main stream.

2022-04-18 02:59:46 +0000 UTCCome And See is a bit like Schindlers List. Very hard to watch. But a very important and well done movie.
Jeremy Garner
2022-04-18 02:35:03 +0000 UTCThe two front runners are (sadly) very predictable. Both are very good films, no doubt, but they will always win against the more "obscure" candidates. I just recently watched "The Killing Fields" for the first time and it was awesome. Read up a lot about Pol Pot and the Khmer afterwards. And to think that it's a true story.... :-( Sometimes I wish you'd just "roll the dice", but ofc it's totally understandable that you need to cater to the majority of your audience. It's just a bit sad that so many great films remain unwatched or "unreacted to" because they aren't mainstream darlings...

2022-04-17 06:43:10 +0000 UTCyou cant go wrong with kellys heros -- its an evolutionary jump in hollywood films -- old studio system was about to die and new indi-directors were about to take over -- lucas, spielberg, etc

2022-04-17 02:28:39 +0000 UTCThere are so many war movies. How about a sub-genre poll: WWII War Movies. It would include so many classics, like Patton, Bridge on the River Kwai, The Great Escape, Tora! Tora! Tora!, and others. On the other hand, maybe it's a bad idea -- I'd want to vote for all of them!
David Martin
2022-04-17 02:08:09 +0000 UTCBut invited for Gallipoli because I think itβs amazing.
Michael Soukup
2022-04-16 23:39:56 +0000 UTCIβm in the minority here I guess but I think the older ar movies are more compelling. Some of the ones made right after WWII ended are amazing.

2022-04-16 23:08:27 +0000 UTCRecommendations for military/war films: The Patriot, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Pearl Harbor, Behind Enemy Lines, Top Gun.

2022-04-16 23:03:30 +0000 UTCI hadn't read you comment above about not having older war movies on this poll. Makes sense and understood.
Mike LL
2022-04-16 22:01:31 +0000 UTCI think you missed one, The Great Escape (1963), but that could have gone on the Golden Age Classics poll as well. I voted for Casualties of War, I've always liked that one, it certainly is not one of the best war movies ever made. Not really impressed with the entries on this poll, the GAC poll is so much better.
Mike LL
2022-04-16 21:49:28 +0000 UTCCoppola has certainly made a mark on the film world, hasn't he? . . . I forgot to mention that Gen. Omar Bradley, who's portrayed by Karl Malden in "Patton," was the film's technical advisor! So Coppola definitely had some help with the details!
William 1611
2022-04-16 20:30:10 +0000 UTCI think you guys already had The Thin Red Line (1998) in there before? Leaving it again. π€ͺ

2022-04-16 20:01:38 +0000 UTC"The Bridge on the River Kwai" is a masterpiece. Others to consider- "The Bridge at Remagen", "A Bridge Too Far", "The Bridges at Toko Ri", or just "The Bridge" if you're into that whole brevity thing.

2022-04-16 19:58:29 +0000 UTCNot sad that Crimson Tide is winning but I just had to vote for Kelly's Heroes. I absolutely love that movie and it would be great to see a reaction to it.
Robert Cintron
2022-04-16 19:57:58 +0000 UTCIf you go with Crimson Tide and you'd like to stay on a Denzel kick, you might consider checking out "Courage Under Fire". I reluctantly saw it back in 96 when Independence Day was sold out, and I ended up loving it.

2022-04-16 19:37:29 +0000 UTCI should be voting for Gallipoli here, but I'm so excited (maybe excited isn't the right word - it's a pretty harrowing movie) about The Killing Fields, I'm putting my vote there. Excellent writing, excellent performances, excellent direction, true story.
Neal Romanek
2022-04-16 19:21:27 +0000 UTCYeah, The Great Escape is one the great WW2 adventure movies. For some reason, not a lot of people talk about it these days.
Neal Romanek
2022-04-16 19:16:33 +0000 UTCPatton really is a great, great war movie. And written by Francis Coppola!
Neal Romanek
2022-04-16 19:15:40 +0000 UTCPlease consider "Patton," with George C. Scott (1970), which is a detailed, historically accurate WWII film that won seven Academy Awards, including "Best Actor" for Scott. It's truly a unique movie, because Patton was such a unique man: a military genius who was also kinda weird (like a tough, foul-mouthed version of T.E. Lawrence, from "Lawrence of Arabia"). "Patton" is considered one of the "biggest" (if not the greatest) movies of the 70s . . . General Patton's daughter saw the film, and said that she almost believed it was her father up on the screen: Scott's performance was that good.
William 1611
2022-04-16 16:35:40 +0000 UTCRight! I love the movie, but β without spoilers β it might not qualify as an actual war movie at all. But it's close enough, and I voted for it.

2022-04-16 16:25:02 +0000 UTCWeβve received a handful of comments that patrons donβt want to see a mixture of older films against newer films because some feel it gets skewed to newer films, so because we just watched LOA and we have the Golden Age of Hollywood Poll, we went with newer War films this time around π -Sam

2022-04-16 15:08:27 +0000 UTCYou should add the Korean film, the Brotherhood of War to your list. It's one of the best war films in my eyes.

2022-04-16 15:07:04 +0000 UTCCasualties of War is the war film everyone should see at least once. Super underrated and forgotten, that's so very sad. Based on a True story. Michael J Fox does a drama with Sean Penn and they're great. Directed by Brian DePalma (The Untouchables, Carlitoes Way, Scarface) This war film was largely ignored bc it didn't depict the US military in a good light, but it's a true story, I knew it would never win a poll but it's much better than a lot of poll winners. It's a haunting sad story but necessary. Its not the "cool" pick, but it's the important one, and my personal favorite war film. Hope it somehow makes a comeback I urge anyone to vote for it and give it a chance. π

2022-04-16 14:26:40 +0000 UTCKelly's Heroes a good war movie that is a bank heist in disguise with an all star cast. Caroll O'Conner should have won an oscar for his performance.
Jason Mangen
2022-04-16 14:05:59 +0000 UTCCrimson Tide is excellent; starring Gene Hackman of Unforgiven and Denzel Washington. IMO, its not really a "war" movie, tho. More of a drama /thriller

2022-04-16 13:51:45 +0000 UTCThere's "The Great Escape" (1963), "In Harm's Way" (1965), "Midway" (1976), "Tears of the Sun" (2003), "The Wild Geese" (1978), "The Dirty Dozen" (1967), "Tora! Tora!, Tora!" (1970), "Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957), "The Caine Mutiny" (1954), etc.

2022-04-16 13:51:39 +0000 UTC"War Horse (2011)" is a visual and storytelling masterpiece from Steven Spielberg "Behind Enemy Lines (2001)" staring Owen Wilson and Gene Hackman is fun too

2022-04-16 13:36:56 +0000 UTCWhoops sorry my mistake π π if I may make another suggestion from a different genre you guys did the godfather movies and I would love for y'all to react to Scarface and Carlitos way assuming y'all haven't watched those π you should do a poll regarding gangsters films, the Irishman, a Bronx tale and Donnie brasco are some I would include π€·, maybe sometime this year you could get to a couple of those π
