K'larysca REALLY DOES Explain It All!

Here's a basic breakdown of the steps I took to turn myself into K'larysca, the famous and fabulous #1 Tiefling influence! If you're curious about any specific part of the process or have questions I didn't answer, please post in the comments. I'd be happy to go into further detail on things.

  1. Gloves are GREAT for any character like this. Paint very easily comes off of your hands with all the wiggling around fingers do and even sealed it CAN rub off onto anything you touch. The gloves I bought were paler than the body paint I was going to use and since I wanted them to match, I just painted the gloves! Easy on and easy off.
  2. Fingernails really make the gloves look more like “hands”. I bought a cheap set of fake nails and glued them right on to the gloves after the paint dried. Super glue works great, but make sure to wear latex gloves over your hands so that the glue doesn’t stick to your actual nails through the glove fabric. THAT is a bad time.
  3. K’larysca’s horns are just just a few pieces of beveled 4mm craft foam glued together with contact cement. Normally I would prime these with a few coats of Plastidip before painting them but that is a time intensive process (I generally do 3+ coats of spray plastidip and each coat needs at least 45 minutes to dry and set). So instead I just gave them a simple coat of a VERY dark purple paint.
  4. I chose this wig because the dark roots would help me hide my natural hair color, plus I thought the ombre style definitely fit with K’larysca’s “E-Girl/Influencer” aesthetic. I separated out some chunks to pull up into little buns, while still leaving some slack in front to hide my hairline
  5. ALWAYS test your body paint. I had previously tested the paint on my arm to make sure I didn’t react to the product (I trust this brand but every new color is different). I slapped some on my face to see what a basic few streaks with my brush would look like.
  6. I don’t wanna paint my legs or my arms, who’s got time for that? I bought nice opaque tights and a pink leotard. I actually bought a few different brands/slightly different colors to make sure they matched both each other and the color of the body paint as close as possible.
  7. Quick outfit check! I wasn’t sure which socks I liked better, once I tried them on it was obvious the white socks were the winner.
  8. Wig cap and velvet wig band! More important now than ever since I used both of those to help keep the horns on.
  9. Contacts!
  10. Base coat of body paint. I used a big ol makeup brush to get this on. I let it dry between coats, but eventually did about three. I also painted the pointy ear extensions, which are stuck onto my ears with a little eyelash glue. Once everything was painted I sprayed on some makeup sealant.
  11. More eyelash glue! Always let it get a little tacky before sticking it on. I made sure to make the base of the horns a long strip that I could pin into the netting of the wig cap. I used some berets clips.
  12. My fun Nyx palette comes in handy again. I always make sure to do some contour when I paint my face, gotta build back in that definition and some of the depth that’s lost.
  13. I started with the middle tone purple for my eyeshadow before building up more of the cat-eye swoop with darker color. Last is the lighter and shimmery stuff on the insides.
  14. Lips and eyebrows. Another reason that I liked the ombre wig, I can match my brows to the dark color rather than having to make them bright aqua. This “lipstick” is actually a few different colors. I started with light purple, added some darker purple to the edges of my mouth and a few dabs of turquoise in the middle and after smoothing it out I was very pleased with the overall results.
  15. Always check your body paint in multiple different types/colors of lighting.
  16. I added this neck piece so it's harder to tell where my skin obviously stops and the leotard neck starts.
  17. Wig gets pulled on and pinned in place.
  18. And I’m ready for my close up :D

This makes me wanna do costumes for LARP again. Then again, I always suspected I was into LARP mostly for the dressing up part anyway...

I love the detail that went into the character design and the costume and the work thats gone into it
