Posted this on social media today. This scene is coming up this weekend! 😍
Currently at 124k words. Because I changed so much in the beginning of the book, it canceled out several key scenes that came later. This meant scrapping, rearranging, and creating brand new scenes.
We're covering so much more ground in this book than I originally thought, but that's a great thing! We're also getting into their sexual dynamic more, which I didn't think would happen until book 4.
IDK if it's like this for other authors, but it takes me forever to write sex scenes. I really dread it because I want it to be hot, but also I want the emotion to come through. If done well, the impact can be devastating. But, for you to write something hot, you have to be in the mood too, you know?? So, I have to get myself in the mood... LMAO. I tell you, being an author is weird.
Because I introduced Roth as this emotionless character, I wanted to keep him "hard" but in these rewrites, I let go of my preconceived notions of him and let his character say and do what he wants and am not overthinking it too much.
I think that will show a lot in these upcoming sex scenes. I spent more time than I care to admit on them. I tend to harp on certain details and dialogue, but I think it's worth it? Lol. The aftermath of the Thanksgiving dinner scenes were heavily rewritten. The undertones and detail just got to me and kind of set the stage for the second half of the book and their dynamic.
I'm still rewriting! My progress is slow and I get frustrated and mentally fatigued, but I know the finish line is so close and the extra work put in is worth it!
Thank you for your patience, encouragement, and chats! Hope you're enjoying and have a great weekend!
