Retronauts Episode 255: Castlevania's Oddballs

That's so perfect I wish I could say I planned it, but once again, the guiding hand of Retro Fate has led our spirits to a place better than we could have imagined for ourselves. Or something. Anyway.
Like the recent live panels from a couple of weeks ago, Episode 255 was recorded back at Long Island Retro Gaming Expo. Since I had the webmaster of the Castlevania Dungeon website on hand, I figured it would be a pretty cool opportunity to talk about some odds-and-ends of the Castlevania franchise that otherwise would be difficult to drum up experienced, expert commentary on. Most (though not all!) of the games we discuss this week aren't that great, but the conversation is never anything less than highly informed and, above all, quite even-handed. That's the Retronauts difference, baby.

Little surprised that nobody mentioned that Eric's name is almost certainly a mis-romanization of katakana trying to say "Ricardo". This was a real good one, reminded me I need to go back to Bloodlines for the first time since Gametap

2019-10-21 20:57:32 +0000 UTCI was at Game Galaxy at Tennessee this summer (if you ever get the chance, it might be the second best US arcade outside of Galloping Ghost) and the Castlevania nerd within me was unbelievably hyped to encounter an actual Haunted House machine. I almost quit immediately because it was technically similar physics to the original NES Castlevania but felt slightly off in the most infuriating way.
