Chapter 8 weekly status report (9)
Added 2021-05-17 19:39:19 +0000 UTCAs I said last time, this'll be the last status report before the release of the Alpha version of Chapter 8. My goal is to release it by the end of the week, probably Saturday, if everything goes as planned.
- The writing is finally done! The script ended up totalling aprox. 17.750 lines of code, so this chapter ended up being lengthier than I expected. Maybe not long, but dense.
- Bug testing has been underway and keep going, now with a complete script. BloodyMares is helping me with that greatly, as usual, and Lara has been providing technical support too. Thanks to her, now the choices that are not available to you will appear greyed out, instead of being invisible, so you'll know when you have alternatives to explore.
- I've also completed all the missing drawing and now I have to finalise all the assets. This is quite time-consuming, but it requires a lot less brainpower than writing, so I should be able to sit through all of them during this week.
Not much more to say, now it's all a matter of putting in the time to make everything look sexy and making sure all the pieces fit correctly before releasing the chapter. Working on it as you can see in this example below!

I think it's how they feel about her but I second guess myself on that alot.

2021-05-18 03:12:25 +0000 UTCNever thought about the unreachable options not beeing visible as a bug - it felt quite right this way. I thought you did this as a psychological design decision. When I play a decent path, I don't want to see exactly what I miss. This way, playing it through multiple times feels more like exploring rather than just checking a list. That is part of what I loved about GoodGirlGoneBad: The game surprised me over and over with new ways - some of which I never would have thought as possible. Not until round about 2 months of almost daily playing it, I "cheated" and searched for undiscovered paths by saving and loading more often. Then and only then, a grayed out option would have been a nice indicator for me. I would really appreachiate it if you could leave the display of disabled possibilities optional. For the developer, it might be a little hard to understand, because you already know everything upfront, but I do not want to have any spoilers at all. I also skip your preview-pics most of the time. With other games though, I must say, I like the grayed out options because I don't bother to play them that much anyway and want to experience them fully from the beginning. But your games are different and worth to be discovered.

In general, in nature there are women-flowers, women-fruits and women-vegetables ! In this story, the majority of women are fruits that are outwardly attractive, smell divine and taste so pleasant that you will lick your fingers!

(and also, I guess that having an option in the config to mark them invisible or grayed out isn't that complicated ^^) Feels like a long time I haven't played and move forward in the story, can't wait to get back to it ! Also, if it doesn't go as plan please don't feel pressure to release it if you don't feel like it. I can just see the incoming complain of bugs if that happens lol
