T2-3D: Battle Across Bab's Basement

COME WITH ME IF YOU WANT TO SHOP!

In a classic SPLIT episode we embark on a double-bonus discussion of the Universal Studios theme park attraction T2 3-D: Battle Across Time as well as the “Mall” Barbra Streisand has in her basement!

Topics include: The fallacy that she has an actual underground mall, the Harper's Bazaar article about Barbra’s home, clue rooms, A Whoopi dinner, a young Griff’s first experience of T2 3-D: Battle Across Time, an entry on Griff’s Sight and Sound list, and of course Ben’s Chaos room.

The Intro made the ride for me when I saw it at 15, but that's because I got an incredibly talented comedic actress.

Casey

I was a kid that loved T2 and Last Action Hero so seeing Arnold ride a bike out of the screen MELTED my little brain. And he’s right the blocking matching the close ups was an effective trick. The Cameron timeline truly ended when they stopped skynet then, everything else is fake

John

Is there any mention of Yarnel across these episodes?

Brady Larsen

I loved this episode so much. Also, post just after seeing that BC is releasing the March Madness bracket March 1st! Dude!!!!!! Ahhhhh

MonoStereoVideo

Man, fuck David, and Ben with the T2 3D opinion. I thought Ben was a chill dude. Griffin is the only normal dude on this show.

Don Knott Steiner

I’m listening to a different episode but just wanted to note in a more recent place that I would pay good Republic credits for a “Merchandise Spotlight” shirt. Doesn’t even need to have any other words or imagery besides that

Rad Rodge

Yes. With the first one. The Sinatra Ocean’s

Kevin Love Hewitt

And that one of the many reasons to visit Japan IS because the theme parks are so amazing.

Soapfish

Yes Griffin has told the Whoopie story before.

Norman Normalperson

I would commit crimes to have a stocked gift room with a wrapping table damn

Flappy McGillicuddy-Jones III

David: don’t be in subtle in your themes, be blunt! Also David: it’s a bit broad

William Evans

David recounting the Harper’s Bazaar article in real time is pure gold. When he runs down their breakfasts Griffin’s reaction is mine.

DJV

This episode also convinced me that Producer Ben should guest on PTR so he can be properly educated on the value of waiting in themed lines.

“I told her to go in the tub!”

If you jam anythings primary built in weapon, it's worthless, if something happens to a gun you need to carry, you drop it and pick up another gun, I always thought it was a tactical thing that the T-800 didn't have built in weapons

BulletProofDrunk17

Bit got honned on the Oceans movies last year?

Isaiah Bornman

Where is Griff's friend Pat May? Is he safe? Is he alright?

Kevin Kuenn

Aka the one that goes like that

Clammy_Damp

Thank you Griff for putting some respect on Kimberley Duncan’s name 😤

Annie

🎶James Cameron, Linda Hamilton🎵 to the tune of America from WSS

Austin McDougle

Obviously it would take too much time but it would be cool to get an episode on The Sarah Connor Chronicles, reasonably the best version of a Terminator 3 that we’ve gotten

fulllulllalala

1000% yes to a studio tour pls

Jake Viaene

I still think you should cover the Clue movie with all three endings on the Patreon.

Sally Sue Magoo

I don’t know why I thought there would be a Bab’s basement mall Sectorkeeper (perhaps linked to an upcoming daily series of some sort.) PTR has destroyed my brain in a very specific way

Champagne and Gummy bears

I'm a PtR "Clifford" & my favorite shows always feature "Accidental" Legend Griffin! I missed experiencing T-2 3-D by 1 week! Please come back to PtR soon & talk Bourne Stuntacular!

Larry Roachelle

Always fun to get a reminder that rich people are a communal society that operates on a gift economy.

Donald W Pratt

New York New York :)

Annie

It’s wild James Cameron killed Sarah Connor offscreen in a theme park attraction.

The Mirror Has Two Futures

Jordan B. Anderson

Seems to me Ben would want a room based on the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz, California: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Spot

Benji Black

Help. The bit's been going on for so long I can't remember which song David is referencing when he goes BA BA DA NA NA

LS

You’re not crazy Griff! I remember ABC maybe 20/20 or something with Barbara Walters or maybe even Diane Sawyer having a mini tour of Bab’s Mall. I’ve also been trying to find that footage for years now but nothing. But that isn’t a false memory because l remember seeing her mall basement maybe around 97-2003ish I’m not sure but l swear l seen it before. 😂 I’m not crazy.

Ancient alien

Second best Terminator movie.

Wes Reynolds

Podcasting as a medium just peaked

Graham Parker
