Kiss from a Rose with Emily Yoshida

At the end of the Bartman Returns episode it was revealed that Producer Ben had texted Griffin during the recording. The message was to sign off the episode by singing Seal's "Kiss from a Rose". Ben believed that this was the wildly popular single from this movie. It is actually from Batman Forever. Either way they still sing along to a karaoke version and here is that b-b-b-bonus audio checkmates!

Being a Blankie for only a little over two years now, I knew it was a good idea to go through the whole podcast chronologically, including the Patreon, and discover some gems I've missed out on. This is awesome, but it's just so irritating that the voices are, like, one one eight ahead of the music track.

If you stopped the bonus content tomorrow I'd still pay for patreon forever just because of how hard I laughed at this

I'm late to the party but goddamn if that wasn't just about the greatest thing I've ever heard. (Also, almost as soon as they hit the bridge, all I could think was, "I've been Griffed by a rose on the Dave.")

Robert Matthews

This made me laugh so hard at work that I had to apologize to my coworkers.

MercuryFish

This was such a delight that I would be in full support of a drunken karaoke ep! (A solo trolo with the three friends)

punkboar

I never before appreciated how hard singing is.

Meghan Weber

I laughed-cried in my car listening to this

Ardith

That was beautiful

Ben

I don't know how to say this without sounding like an asshole, but I just have to say, as a band kid (more specifically, a drummer) who has loved this song for over 20 years, I am still processing through how this entire song, a song with a lot of space and cues, was performed by multiple people, by one beat ahead. And yet I still enjoyed every second of it. I just had the most difficult time singing along. I promise this is not by any means a criticism - only that there is some impressive, near incomprehensible beauty to this performance.

Gregory K Okada

I'm in literal tears. Also, is it just me or does Emily have a pretty great singing voice?

ChewyWalrus

Thank you. That was absolutely beautiful. Never has $5 been better spent. ❤️

A friend did this song for karaoke once and lost his mind when the on-screen lyrics were not "on the grave."
