EP.209 [Berserker Sabrina Serazade.] 

“What do you mean by that?” 

Eugene’s eyes widened in shock when he heard from the drake that his mother, Sabrina Serazade, carried the seed of a berserker. Naturally, this was something he had never heard from his father. 

“It’s exactly as I said, son of Sabrina. Sabrina possessed the seed of a demon berserker. That was the connection that allowed me to grow close to her for a time.” 

The drake confirmed this in a calm, matter-of-fact way, making it clear this wasn’t some psychological ploy against Eugene Schneider. 

“I see the picture now. Sabrina, having become a berserker, pushed herself to have a child, and after giving birth to you, she passed away. A demon and a berserker in an era when demons are extremely weakened-your father could never have told you that.” 

From Eugene’s reaction, the drake immediately pieced together Sabrina Serazade’s story. Despite being a demon and a berserker, she was a female demon berserker who only ever looked at one person-Eugene’s mother, Sabrina Serazade. As Priscilla once said, berserkers actually grow weaker if they don’t have sex with multiple partners. Sabrina, choosing monogamy with Ulysses, became exponentially weaker. She became pregnant and gave birth to Eugene Schneider in that state, and that was why she died. 

“Ah...” 

Eugene’s twisted expression shifted as if a puzzle had finally fit together. 

‘When Jeanne told me that story, I wondered if it could be...’ 

His strange expression was because that possibility had existed in his mind. At some point, Eugene had heard about demon berserkers from Jeanne, including the unique traits and special fates of female demon berserkers. When he heard that, he’d thought of his mother, who died right after giving birth to him. He’d never heard from his father that his mother was a berserker, but he couldn’t help but feel that her life resembled that of a demon berserker. Now, the drake’s words made that painful suspicion a reality. 

‘He couldn’t have told me. Not a single clue. In truth, my mother and I exchanged lives-her life for mine... The deepest pain for a human is the bond of blood.’ 

Eugene realized the real reason his father Ulysses had been so secretive about his mother. “Demon” was a taboo word-even the highest nobles avoided it in the Empire. But that’s only true when you’re deeply entangled with the world. Ulysses Schneider, a free spirit, could have chosen another path, but he chose to stay involved. The reason he didn’t tell Eugene about Sabrina being a demon wasn’t just that-Swordmaster Ulysses Schneider wanted to protect his son. He wanted to spare Eugene the shock of learning that his mother was a berserker and died trading her life for his. 

“......” 

Eugene Schneider, his mind blank, was silently watched by the drake. 

“To have lived with Sabrina as a berserker and to have brought you into the world, your father must have been an extraordinary man. And half of your remarkable body comes from him.” 

The drake continued, as if now ready to say what she’d intended all along. 

“So in the end, light and darkness awaken together...” 

She murmured something like a cryptic riddle. 

“That darkness-is it the being you said opened the Demon God’s Eye?” 

Eugene, regaining some focus, quietly asked the drake, though his gaze was on the ground at her feet, not her face. 

“Yes, son of Sabrina.” 

The drake lifted her chin and looked at Eugene. She seemed surprised he recovered so quickly, which is why she’d spoken in a riddle before. 

“And that being is likely very close to you.” 

With a dramatic gesture, as if prophesying, the drake pointed to Eugene and said that darkness was at his side, as the great current of fate began to flow with the Demon God’s Eye opening. 

‘Someone around me...’ 

Eugene mulled over the drake’s words with a changed look in his eyes. When he first met the drake, he didn’t pay much attention to her talk about his demon blood, since she hadn’t given him any clear purpose. He’d just found it interesting and wondered why she was saying such things. But now, with his mother’s name mentioned and darker truths revealed, everything was taking on a new significance for Eugene. 

“I have to ask: is the current rise in demonic energy and the increase in monsters on the continent also because the Demon God’s Eye was opened?” 

Building on this change, Eugene questioned the drake. 

“Yes. Demonic energy will rise to ancient levels, and monsters will flourish. The fact that I could descend into this era makes it inevitable.” 

Flash! 

The drake’s red eyes, full of demonic energy, flashed as she answered. 

‘Someone around me wants that?’ 

Eugene asked this to clarify, since the drake’s claim that someone close to him opened the Demon God’s Eye didn’t match his own sense of his surroundings. 

“Why did that dark being open the Demon God’s Eye?” 

Eugene asked his core question directly. 

“I don’t know. But one thing’s certain: from the continent’s perspective, and yours, it won’t be a good thing. At the very least, that being must want chaos.” 

Smirk! 

The drake smiled, showing the stark difference in their perspectives. For a being rooted in demonic energy, it was interesting that someone had opened the Demon God’s Eye. 

“But this much is certain. You and that being can never have a good relationship. It was true in the past, it’s true now, and it always will be.” 

With a cold gaze, the drake spoke as if to instill fear. 

“That almost sounds like you’re worried about me.” 

But Eugene understood what that cold gaze meant. The drake, a being rooted in demonic energy, smiled at the opening of the Demon God’s Eye, but her conversation with Eugene was more like a favor. Her cold gaze was not a threat, but a warning. 

“Hmph... At first, I was just curious about an interesting being, but since you’re the blood of someone I was close to, I can’t help myself.” 

The drake smiled with a lingering expression and closed her eyes. If the berserker seed began to manifest when she met Sabrina, it must have been when Sabrina was very young-a faint but real connection. The drake had no need to take sides in the coming storm, but felt compelled to help Eugene because of that old bond. 

“What are you, really? What kind of being had a connection with my mother?” 

Eugene pressed to know the drake’s true identity. 

“If you truly become a being of light, you’ll naturally learn who I am. I don’t want to reveal myself to someone who hasn’t reached that level. That would be a luxury.” 

Fssssssssss...!! 

With a haughty look, the drake unleashed her dark red demonic energy. 

[Instead, let me give you a gift. You came here to hunt me, didn’t you?] 

Gggggggggg...!!!!!! 

With that, she transformed back into her drake form. 

“This bastard...!” 

Swoosh!! 

Eugene pulled his greatsword from the ground. 

[That’s right, raise your sword. Come at me with all your Sword Seeker power, son of Sabrina!] 

-Fwoooooooosh!!! 

The drake unleashed a tremendous surge of mana and charged at Eugene. 

‘Damn, it can’t be helped. Elizabeth told me not to overexert myself since I’m not used to this yet...’ 

Slash! 

Eugene took up a fighting stance. Elizabeth had designed today’s tactics not just to hide Eugene’s Sword Seeker abilities, but also because using them at full power could strain his body. But if he wanted to stand a chance one-on-one with the drake, he’d have to go all out. 

Chuaaaaaaaaa...!!! 

Eugene’s greatsword erupted with a massive aura and sword threads. 

[If you can’t withstand this, only death awaits, son of Sabrina!!!] 

-Fwoooooooooooosh!!!! 

The drake, wrapped in a vortex of dark red mana, charged at Eugene with ferocious momentum. 

“I’m not about to die!!!” 

-Fwooooooosh!!! 

Eugene also lowered his stance and dashed in with incredible speed using his mana footwork. 

-Chaaaaaaa!!! 

‘Like I’d ever just charge head-on like an idiot!’ 

At the last moment before impact, Eugene spun 45 degrees with a rapid mana step, moving to the drake’s nape. 

-Buaaaaaaak!!! 

Then, with a savage roar, he swung his Sword Seeker greatsword vertically at the drake’s neck. 

-Kwaaaaaang!! 

The blow landed squarely on the drake’s nape. 

‘One hit won’t be enough-follow-up attack!’ 

Eugene could feel the difference in power compared to when he was just a Sword Seeker. But his opponent was a top-class monster, possibly a higher-dimensional being in disguise. Eugene was already planning his next move. 

But then- 

‘What the...???????’ 

Eugene’s eyes went wide with shock.
