Shapeshifter

Hey everyone! Shapeshifter is back on RoyalRoad for good!

It will be serialized alongside Tree, but it's considered my side project, so it only receives two chapters a week. Since it's currently on the rising stars list, I'd greatly appreciate any reviews or support for the launch, as it's stalled at around rank 4, and I want to make a push for rank 1.

As for Patreon, it's being posted on my other account. The reason is that I didn't want to spam you guys with 30+ chapters, burying any Tree chapters, and I also want to keep Tree separate from my other projects, as I have no idea how long each of my side projects will be serialized, while Tree still has many years to go.

I already made a post about the reason for the re-post of Shapeshifter and the changes, which I'll copy and paste below:

As I hinted at in the past, I've finally gotten around to rewriting Shapeshifter. When I first posted it, I did so without a sufficient backlog, a hastily assembled system, and I also fell ill during the RS run, resulting in a hiatus while at rank 1 RS. While I don't expect the repost to do much better than the original run, I'm far happier with the story now and want to write it to completion. As of writing this, I've written over ten new chapters since RoyalRoad left off, just to confirm the story's direction, and I'm loving it.

I will be posting all the chapters here on this Patreon page in the coming days and weeks, and then I will attempt another run on RoyalRoad. Regardless of how it does on RR, I'm aiming for a steady release schedule of around 2+ chapters a week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) until I have enough content to launch it on Amazon.

Change log:

• New opening + new characters introduced from the human side.
• Chapters 21 and 22 have been deleted and rewritten, removing the weird demon god thingy I had going on (I was reading Chainsaw Man at the time, and it messed with me, haha)
• Stats have been removed from the system. It now focuses far more on his forms and skills.
• There's now a single massive World Dungeon connecting all the continents rather than hundreds of individual dungeons.
• MC doesn't need to obtain variants to get better evolutions anymore. Instead, devouring rare variants will upgrade current forms.

For those who have never heard of Shapeshifter, here is the new synopsis:

Xen isn't your typical Hunter. In fact, he isn't human at all.

A newbie dungeon raid gone wrong results in a one-in-a-million event—Xen, a Mind Slime, absorbs a fallen Hunter's memories, granting him not only knowledge a monster should never possess but also access to the human's class system.

The very system designed to help humans fight his kind.

Granted a unique [Shapeshifter] class, he can take on the forms of any living being he eats and also learn their skills. In a world where most Hunters are limited to a few skills, he alone can possess a seemingly unlimited number. Using this advantage, he will not only conquer the World Dungeon that spans between continents but also make use of his shapeshifting to infiltrate human society.

Despite being the enemy of both humans and monsters, nothing will stop Xen's rise to power. After all, the most dangerous of foes is the one that wears many faces—plays both sides—and reaps all the benefits.
