As best as I know, the inoculation scene was historically accurate. That's how inoculation was done at the time. I don't know about the other children, but son John Quincy Adams would go on to live a life of remarkable achievements (congressman, secretary of state, and president), as would John Quincy's son (Charles Francis Adams, who would become the US ambassador to England during the Civil War) and grandsons (Henry and Brooks Adams, who would become prominent authors, historians, and commentators. Henry's autobiography, "The Education of Henry Adams," is still considered one of the greatest American biographies.)
