8 Deleted Scenes

I thought I'd compile an exclusive behind-the-scenes-at-the-writer's-desk list showing how much the story changes from first draft to comic page over the course of starting in 2015 to what we see today!

I'll try to list them chronologically to story:

Kim's dad was originally going to be a bigger character and even live with the boys

Why it changed: While that would make for some wacky sneaky gay hijinks having dad in the house, this was scrapped early on because we liked Kim being 100% in charge

Kylee was originally going to have more drama quitting cigarettes and other drugs

Why it changed: With as much BL cheese I tend to throw in, I do like to keep this story grounded in reality and a heavy smoker/addict quitting cold turkey CAN be done with minimal side effects, but it's rare. So that would've been more Kylee subplot drama that Ky didn't need cuz he's a dramatic little shit already. So casual smoker and generally non-addictive substances.

Kimrick was originally going to not let Kylee keep Razor, and then have a change of heart and get him a new cat later on

Why it changed: Fuck kicking out animals, even if it does relate to a character's development, I'm mad I even wrote that in the script lol

The first kiss scene at the bar was originally going to be a get-together at Kim's house instead of the western club

Why it changed: They needed a change of scenery haha Also it gave Wes's dancing (and Kim's jealousy) time to shine and let Rocko come back for a good ol' bar fight

The boy's first sex scene was going to be right there on the bathroom floor instead of in bed

Why it changed: While I originally planned for it to be a super fast quickie after their tiff in the bathroom, it felt more in Kim's character to hesitate/walk away and Ky follow after him into the bedroom and then lead them to the bed. Plus bathroom floors aren't sexy

Scotty was never going to be in the comic

Why it changed: he was created just to be a frequent mention on Kylee's tumblr but 1. I fell in love with him and 2. It gave the drug buddies a more solid reason for showing back up at the ranch (hearing through Scotty that Ky was still stuck there after their gas station chat)

Kylee was originally going to blow Kim on the couch right after the suicide talk instead of later that night

Why it changed: I wanted that blowjob to be a way of showing intimacy was the only real way Ky knew how to connect with/try to heal Kim but RIGHT after the emotional backstory reveal? Too soon, Red, too soon

Ky's post-fire dream sequence was added last minute

Why it changed: I ended up not liking how clean cut the script started: 'he escapes shed, he passes out, he wakes up' and really wanted to work in Ky's vulnerable side, even if he could only express himself in his subconscious mind like the tsundere he is
