Housekeeping Update!
Added 2024-02-05 22:18:51 +0000 UTCHey all! Just a bit of a housekeeping update. This month, now that things are up and running a little bit more consistently. First, I want to talk a little bit more about what sort of stuff I’m going to be posting here, and a more robust schedule. Second, with that, I want to discuss some stuff that’s happening with the tiers, which I haven’t updated for years at this point, and are not really accurate anymore, given what I’m planning on putting out.
January was a bit of a trial balloon for a few things, both for the daily entries I’ve been doing on bluesky/twitter, and getting the suggestion box up and running again. Looking at the backlog of stuff that I haven’t posted/current projects I’m working on, I’m going to be increasing the number of posts I’m making from once a week, to two times a week! There may be occasional disruptions, if I don’t have something to put up, but for the most part, there should be new content on Tuesday and Friday—or at least, that’s the goal.
As I’ve been thinking about what I want to write, I’ve got things slotted into a few categories:
- First: flash fiction, usually based on suggestions from patrons, or inspired by my daily entries.
- Second: long form stories, whether broken into chapters or not, usually around the length of a book chapter.
- Third: updates on additional, longer term projects that I’m working on, including things like twine stories, and (eventually) the next entry in the Pigtown Saga that’s been on hold for a while now.
- Fourth: I miss writing the occasional non-fiction piece, and there’s some stuff that’s been rolling around in my head lately that I’d like to get down on paper. Some of it is reminiscent of the old metawriting entries I did years ago, some of it is more philosophical stuff on the nature of kink, and some other things.
I’m sure other stuff will come up along the way, but for now, that’s where my interests lie. Now, onto the question of tiers. Starting this month (though they haven’t been updated as of yet) the three tiers I currently have are going to change somewhat. The $1 tier will have access to the suggestion box and be able to read all the flash fiction I post. The $5 tier will have access to those stories, as well as all the long form stories I post, and most likely any non-fiction essays or metawriting commentary I post as well. The $10 tier will have all of that, and also any development notes on long form projects, and also be able to playtest any twine games I put out, have early access to Pigtown stories, and things like that. For the moment, I’m not going to be offering “draft” access like I have in the past. For one thing, giving folks access to stuff where they can watch me write “live” was nerve wracking as hell. Second, it’s just deeply unorganized and difficult to sort through/maintain on google drive, and I’ve moved to an offline program for most of my writing that is more robust and helpful when putting together longer pieces. All that said, folks at the highest tier will get early access to stuff all the same, but only when it reaches a more polished stage.
As for what kind of writing will get posted each week, it’s fairly up in the air. If I had a month where I got a lot of suggestions and flash fiction done, then there might be a couple small pieces in a week. On the other hand, if there’s a longer story I’ve broken in half, I’ll probably post both of those entries over a single week for the upper tiers. I’ll do my best to keep stuff interesting, and I might settle into a routine eventually, but for now, no guarantees on that front.
Thanks again for the support as always! Just a reminder that the suggestion box for February is open and ready for your ideas and requests. If you have questions or thoughts, please leave them below in the comments!
