The End of LOG:03 1/9

You can probably see why I'm not charging patrons for this page. Pages like this are necessary for pacing and work in context, but for a weekly page update? Nah, going to post this and the next page together on Wednesday.

Heads-up, Incoming Page Dump

Just a heads-up, tomorrow is Page Dump day, where you will get access to all of November's pages. November is a 5 page month but I will be posting a lot more than 5 pages.

I'll be posting 6 paid pages tomorrow to end out the chapter. Otherwise, I'd be leaving you hanging a full month for just one page. So, the hell with it. Bonus page.

Also, I still owe the $5 patrons their page breakdown for October. Don't fret, it's on the way. Halloween kinda pulled the rug out from ...

Vote for The Sprawl

http://topwebcomics.com/

Remember, if you're enjoying the comic and want to help spread the word you can vote for us on daily ranking sites such as TopWebComics.

More visibility on those lists means more readers.

More readers means more supporters like you.

More supporters means we'll hit those support goals and you'll get more of The Sprawl each month!

The Equipment

This month's photo is my laptop while I'm hard at work on the individual panels for the big 2-page spread for LOG:04

Right now I use a Microsoft Surface Book, it's super light weight and has incredibly battery life. On the other hand, the N-Trig stylus tech isn't as reliable or accurate as Wacom. You can get a tablet PC with a Wacom screen and spend a lot less money for a better art machine. Still, it does the job!

Changes

I've made minor changes to both the patron rewards and my goals.

All patrons now get early access to Sprawl pages on the first of the month. There's now more reward tiers and a set schedule for the delivery of those rewards.

The changes aren't entirely over and done with, I've got more plans I'm working on in addition to getting LOG:04 rolling.

I've yet to get any feedback on email versus Patreon site posts. I may try sending out an upcoming reward batch via email a...

Question For You

Hey everyone,

I've been posting all Patron rewards here to the Patreon site along with the monthly page dumps. Do you prefer it like this, or would it be better if I sent other Patron rewards, such as concept art and monthly status reports, through email directly to your inbox?

Another Patreon Overhaul Coming

Hi everyone,

For the past several months I've been collecting feedback, checking out the Patreon pages of other comics, and investigating more ways I can properly thank you guys for your support without burying myself under a mountain of extra work which would keep me from working on the comic itself.

I've also been evaluating my Patreon goals, keeping an eye on what Patreon says I make compared to what actually makes it to my account each month.

Over the course of this week I plan...

The Sprawl: Update

Hey everyone,

This is just a bit of an update to let you know what progress is being made and what's on my plate for the immediate future.

You probably heard me mention freelance work was keeping me busy the past few weeks. Barring any major revisions, that job is done so I'm back to focusing on the comic.

Speaking of the comic, the first thing on my plate right now is the cover for the print edition of LOG:01.  I have an interested publisher and once a deal has been wo...

Yet More LOG:04 Concept Art

Fun fact, I've spent more time on concept art for LOG:04 than any previous chapter. This is due to the fact that there's a lot more characters than before.

Granted, designs like this I'll have to simplify for their appearances in the comic to keep up the pace of production.

Star Fox Fanart

I've got more concept art from LOG:04 coming, in the meantime, check out this Star Fox fanart, drawn as if they were characters in The Sprawl universe.

September Pages 4/4

I was really anxious about these effects. They looked great in the black and white sketch, but I wasn't sure how it would look in colour with the effects painted in. Luckily, I think it turned out great.

In even more positive news, I have a publisher interested in making Sprawl books. Nothing solid yet but I'll share more news as I can.

September Pages 3/4

I love to do pages which call back to pages earlier in the comic. This is one of those pages.

Update + Fan World News

Hey everyone, bit of an update. My freelance "pay the bills" work has been eating up a lot of my time the past couple of weeks, and will continue to do so for the next 2 weeks. Still, I've been making progress on The Sprawl (working on the final page of the LOG:03 epilogue right now) and will have some more concept work for you guys next week. I'm also working on some new desktop wallpapers, which will consist of a mix of comic art and original art featuring characters from all three chapters so...

August Transmission 5/5

In case you're wondering, Liam did not bust the door off with super strength, it's a safety feature of the train car.

That is it for the August page dump. I'm finishing up the last two pages of LOG:03 right now and then I plan to spend much of August preparing for LOG:04. Prepping for a new chapter always takes a couple of weeks or more, but if I get things moving fast enough I might do another double page month in September.

August Transmission 4/5

I've been trying to incorporate sound effects into the page art more.

Fun fact, this subway car is based loosely on one type used in the New York City subway.

Double Page Month may be over, but August is a 5 week month, so I've got 5 pages for you today!

Reminder: PayPal Automatically Declines

Over 20% of July's pledges were declined so I wanted to remind everyone that PayPal automatically declines as this comic is considered adult content.

Check out Stripe on the Patreon payment options page, it works perfect and only takes a minute to set up.

Reminder about Adult Content & PayPal

Speaking of new Patrons, I wanted to remind everyone that "The Sprawl" is listed as adult content, so PayPal pledges will not go through. They will be automatically declined.

However, Patreon does offer an alternative service called Stripe and it only takes a couple of minutes to set up.
