As you all know I didn't cancel Something To Do With Love when the Kickstarter wasn't fully funded. I adjusted the scope and was able to fund a good chunk of the game without it via "extras" commissions.
Not gonna get into a big text wall about how having a budget wouldn't be awful and how I need to eat, don't worry about that.

Hey guys, just a quick update on Something To Do With Love's development.
Lately I've been working on the rest of the gameplay related stuff needed for the final version.
Here we have the time passage and weather systems. Weather and time of day will effect certain events or create new ones. You can even check the weather forecast, though that could end up being wrong. Typical.
Variables like this will determine which characters end up where and when, plus more surprises!

The demo will be a few more days. I'm only just learning that a few major things were changed (for the better) and I had to re-adapt almost everything to use the more-useful Game Maker Studio 2 when the compatibility scripts eventually fell apart.
Basically when you import a GMS project it converts everything with scripts. If you go in and change something without knowing that it'll fall apart.

Just a little update for you guys. I've been working on a "demo" of the final version of Something To Do With Love. It'll cover the opening of the game, setting up a couple potential romances. The save file will be transferable to the full version. After this demo I'd like the next upload to be the final game but I've been considering episodic stuff more and more.

The campaign not being funded changes some things on my end, but as far as you guys are concerned the only thing changing is you'll pay for it when it's finished. All the merchandise is still happening as well, and stay posted here or on my Twitter (@kabangeh) for things like getting your character in the game.
Obviously the bigger stretch goals such as the mobile version and voice acting won't be happening just yet. For now we're gonna focus on a Windows/Linux release.

Here's a little animation test I did for a project I'm planning. I'm working with a different rendering engine this time so I've been getting the hang of it. It's not exactly geared towards toony looking stuff but with a mess of node magic in Blender's compositor I managed to get the look I wanted. I even got the "eyebrows/eye outlines though hair" effect. I have a separate set of nodes for backgrounds to give it a watercolor look, and yet another for blobby anime shadows which you can see here....
