Funny Farm story preview

There's an old FF story in which Orwell hosts a quick game of Dungeons & Dragons with the gang and we're fast approaching it again on the site. It wasn't very involving, BUT I want to do something more significant this time around. 

I haven't made the comics yet, but I've plotted out an adventure and got the characters ready. Now I'm sketching them out to see what designs I want to work with. Their D&D characters have a few details, but here's their basics:

Blagden is off to a start! It seems he recognizes this building, which is odd considering its location. Rapier is in on this mystery too and Paul has had enough. He suspects The Hellion Patrol has known more than they've been letting on about the golem and wants answers now.

Scarrow is there to politely remind the Parliament soldier to mind his manners around Rapier....

It took a while, but a plan that actually might work is beginning to form. Lyre, being educated in communications, figures out a way to link the robots in a way similar to a radio. Rak's robot pal reveals he has cloaking abilities for himself and whoever else is in close proximity. With this they now travel to Zeiss' fortress to bravely retrieve Timbo!

Little did they know the place is not without guards...

This one's a double sized page. The writing on the wall implies that Despond was ultimately defeated by using the same twisted force referred to as magic against him. Despond is encapsulated into a small orb and cast aside. This orb we know as the Orb of Magicka. So, SPOILERS, the shard pieces that have been used by Wizard, Rawn, etc. are fragments of Despond.

That doesn't really explain the Servant of Magicka though does it? We'll get into that in later pages...

Books (quickly mail to you backers) and Patreon Goals

Firstly thanks to everyone who has helped support our comics! We did reach the $200 goal and I promised more frequent Banished updates. Brandon and I are up to the task no problem, but Deanna is now expecting her second child and...you can imagine she has more important priorities than coloring comics.  ;D

We'll see what happens here. Might be we'll just have a bunch of b/w updates with colors to come sorta' thing.

Despond's original body is pretty gross. I don't think it could ever be drawn in a way to adequately represent that, but you get a general idea of what his appearance resembles in the first panel. Below we see the symbols representing his three children: The Warrior, The Hunter and The Muse. They're not Despond's biological children; rather they're experiments that lead to the perfected creations: the three dragons.

Back with Rak and the gang and they still have no clue what to be doing it looks like. Gavol comes up with the idea of charging the base naked to give them the element of surprise. Rak disagrees.

The group is going through a lot of adjustments as each individual becomes accustomed to the wide array of personalities present. Something Rak begins to acknowledge. 

A captain requires patience and he asks to hear more of the plan.

Coven and his crew enter this new antechamber and discover the bust of a woman emitting a strange glow. Her last name (which will be written on the pedestal) is Forrest. She's probably who the town was named after...

Inside the room are dusty ol' bones and old robes and on the walls are various alien looking writing. Coven (with the help of Rastus) translates the words and discover that appears to be a history of Despond.

Scarrow is also getting a bit suspicious that Coven's getting ...

Timbo, being the clever little guy he is, starts deducing Zeiss has had a hand in the events that have transpired since near the beginning. Timbo also suspects the little diagnostic droid might be incorrect as to the true purpose of the Mammazons. Timbo surprises Zeiss with some quotes he brought back from his experiences with the "strange" statues and...poof! Back to normal again.

Now he's got a rattle in his head.

Rough Banished comic sketches

A lil' behind the scenes look at what a Banished page ressembles before sending it to Brandon for lines and Deanna for colors. Sometimes it's on pencil and paper, others digitally. Ultimately Brandon does a good job taking my scribbles and creating something of a masterpiece (in comparison).  ;D

Here Coven and the gang happen upon a barrier, which happens to be a door leading to whatever secrets are being kept by the Shadow of the Sun. The secret word that opens said door happens to be known by Rastus (the voice in Coven's head).

What lies ahead for our heroes? A lot of answers, that's for sure. Including a lot of info about what the secret society has accumulated on Despond...

The Catagas came to a relatively primitive planet, bestowed upon the inhabitants technology to travel space and were betrayed. Someone or some race sabotaged the experiment and extinguished all survivors. Zeiss is going to find out who it was, starting with Timbo.

Inside the carriage, Wizard (in puppet form) is wondering what's going on and why is there a younger version of Pidherny Sophasath with Wylla. His inquiries are cut short as Wylla explains that Sansregret is gone and is most likely in Despond's clutches right now.

Wizard is taken back a bit and immediately informs Wylla that Forest Town is not what it seems (based on his research at home). He was going to warn Sansregret about this, but was interrupted by Scarrow's take-down.

You may recall this story had some pages where a "journal" of some sorts was being written of magical items of interest. Here we see it a final time recounting information on the mysterious group called "The Shadow of the Sun". Turns out it was Wizard writing them all along...in his Not-Wizard persona. This is a hint we'll learn everything there is to know about the guy who calls himself Wizard in the story following this.  ;)

The ultimate fate of the space station is just as horrific as what happened to the homeworld. Somehow the robots are involved, but are not the ones who instigated this disaster. 

Timbo is now face to face with the first robot, Zeiss.

This page will be an extra long one once it's through. Wylla begins to panic as she realizes Allone is doing to her what he did to Idzerd. Wylla begins contemplating as everything begins turning to black.

She awakens, slowly, realizing she's alive. Beside her a fire rages as Vilhelm explains Allone doesn't much care for the stuff. Vil asks if she can get up, but the injuries are too great...

She's not dead though.

Noella is pleased to see Wylla has changed character (in the previous story she admitted to not trusting Coven's travelling companion), but Wylla is still a bit ticked...and then remembers Noella saying this wasn't a dream.

and indeed it isn't.

Allone has entered Wylla's mind via...unconventional methods.  :x

We get to read our lil' robot's version of the origin of the Mammazons and their purpose on Strix 13. I say "lil' robot's version" because she might not comprehend what their true role is.

Timbo's pretty excited to see Fehr isn't necessarily the bad guy Rak paints the robot to be. He also can't wait for the tour.

Wylla's dad was not a very good person. Maybe that's why he's seen as a faceless monster in her subconscious.  Wylla doesn't seem to be affected by his presence much, which suddenly transitions to a conversation with Noella (the only way Wylla knows of Allone).

There Wylla shares the story of how she had to bury her dad. Noella/Allone listens and maybe can't help but think of her/his own father.

It's the Mammazon cloning/incubation tanks! This room first appeared at the end of Book 1. Obviously there is a relation between these, the robots and what happened with that moon & planet in the previous page. Looks like we're going to find out how all these details are intertwined very soon...

It's pretty tricky getting a page done from a hotel room, but I've got you supporters to think about!  ;D

The wolf part of Allone charges, shocking Wylla to lose her grip on the tree and fall.

She lies unconscious on the ground, but wakes with a start in a wooden cabin. It's a bit of a shock, because the man weeping before Wylla is her deceased father.

What will probably follow are some revelations about Wylla's past. Is this Allone's doing?  Stay tuned!!

Allone seemed convinced that Sansregret may have been his long-lost sister, but that may not be the case...

That means it`s back to hunting the golem, who is also a possible candidate for his cursed sibling.

Meanwhile Wylla is caught by surprise!

I`m not certain when this comic will go up. I have to be with my mother as we fly to a specialist to treat the cancer in her eye. There we`ll have to stay for a week and...I dunno` how much time I`ll have for comic-making. I do wan...
