Progress V0.8 - Coding Complete

Hi,

I have finished the main quest lines and the associated game code. Here is a screenshot from the Evil Irith quest.

Testing will start tomorrow, minor coding work like gallery image assignments, dialogue finetuning etc. will be done in that course.

Also I'll integrate another small VIP Tier feature /bonus.

News - Automatic Discord Integration Enabled

Hi,

thanks to the tip from a new patron, I found that it is possible to auto link discord roles and invites to the patreon tiers of my page.

I have activated it and roles should be assigned automatically to your discord user.

Please note that discord roles (the colored ones) will be active only as long as the patreon membership persists. This allows me to post some exclusive content also in discord.

Screenshot V0.8

Hi,

almost completed one of the 2 major new quests of V0.8 today (Evil Irith Quest). Can't post too much spoilers, but this is how it kicks off. 

Irith gets a farewell present from you, which proves to have a bad influence on her. In the course of the quest you help Gwynn to collect some unusual items to create a counterspell.

Btw:  You can find this amulet item already in V0.7 if you go to the Insanitarium a second time.

Progress V0.8

Hi,

I have started integrating the quests for V0.8, adding artwork as I go along.

After trying all kinds of sequential and parallel approaches, what works imho best is doing (1) the quest storyboard first, then (2) add the new game mechanics and then (3) add quest segments and artwork step by step as I go along the quest storyboard.

I'll start posting some screenshots from this week. Progress V0.8. is estimated at 40%.

Minor Update V0.7b

Hi, 

an update to V0.7 has been posted in the Release Post 

It fixed the (not game breaking) inconsistency with Gwynn (Bug: can give you two maps) and Illiana (Bug: is not deleted from mirror dialogue after capture).

Fully save game compatible with V0.7a.

Early Access Tier Preview - Illiana

Hi,

today I integrated Illiana as a new NPC into the Tower mechanics. Added some rooms, sprites etc. The room I made in blender, as the simple static image of captured Illiana used in V0.7 wouldn't be flexible / immersive enough.

This will hopefully help to make the additional ending quest a bit more interesting. Also considering adding a favour menu to give Grex some reward in the endgame phase...

Dev Log V0.8

Hi,

today I started with the game mechanics for V0.8. There will be two new dungeon locations to advance the Story for the "(Mildly) Dark Ending", namely the Goblin Burrows (see screenshot) and the Institute Dungeons, where MC has to collect some pieces of information and magical ingredients for Gwynn. 

(the guards are actually goblin guards, hence the look. Will rename them...)

Character Concept - Goblin Neetha

Hi,

finished up the character today with some minor adjustments.

She has a small appearance in V0.7a released tomorrow (working at the Madame's place) and will get more important in V0.8, where she helps her fellow Goblin out...

Edit: Something bugged me about the character so I made another variation (the one with the background wall). That will probably it...

Planning V0.8

Testing with V0.7 is mostly finished so I found some time to do the planning for V0.8.

There will be two main Quests, namely

  • The Mad Queen Irith
  • The Institute Quest for Gwynn

which lead to one alternative ending.

The third and final ending (Harem Ending) will not fit into V0.8, so I'll save that for the final Version V0.9.

All features, which are not rated "High" might be pushed back, as the timely conclusion of the two quests has priority. View Post

A side character most likely featuring in a V0.8 quest. 

Neetha is a Goblin and works at The Establishment. She will provide Grex with valuable information regarding a quest in the Goblin Burrows (new dungeon level).

Matched her size and proportions to Grex, but might still change a bit.

Early Access testing with the V0.7 Release Candidate is going well. There have been no more issues reported for a few days. (fingers crossed...)

I have therefore advanced integration of all the minor changes and will begin final testing & documentation tomorrow.

If all goes well, official Patreon release date will be advanced to 12.10.

V0.7 - Status VIP Early Access Testing

Hi,

a short update on V0.7 VIP Early Access Testing.

There have been a number of smaller issues (dialogue, editorial, timeline, character art inconsistencies, ...) reported so far (thanks esp. to Biblioimmortal and Ryuke for finding them).

The new quest system has already paid for the effort put in, as there was no quest deadlock / fail reported!

In other features also nothing major came up so far. The All Access Patron Early Access Version will remain V0.7 if no shows...

here is a concept for the MC. 

Still not 100% sure, whether he should be a humanoid or something like a Ferengi. The latter would conceptually be too much like the Goblin, so I am leaning towards human.

Should be a cartoony 18 to 20-ish, somewhat hapless adventurer type (like Guybrush Threepwood, for those who know...) who stumbles into this adventure and has to make his fortune (while trying to find back home...).

today I finished full play-through of the V0.7 release candidate. I was surprised it took me around 8 hours all the way to the first ending of the game.

Although I test played older version a zillion times, due to the new quest system this time I felt motivated to actually replay it.

V0.7 Progress - Art & Story Complete

Finished the Queen capture renders and code today. That was more or less the last new major story element. Now I'll go for a few days of integration and some of the rework of older content.

Without too much of a spoiler, here's a screenshot from one of the final dialogues (don't worry, V0.8 side quests are still planned).

And of course, Irith will not be getting any less difficult to deal with as Queen ;)

Hi,

due to a configuration file that slipped into an older release, the music might have been switched off in your renpy settings. Just received that feedback from a patron.

If you wonder why there is no background music, go to in-game Renpy settings and turn music volume back op.

There's background music tracks for all the minigames, etc. Would be a pity to miss those... ;)
