TGE (Tragic Geometry Error)

I've never had toe overlap on any bike, being a big rider. How can they think this is good geometry? Particularly on an off-road bike! Downright dangerous.

Testing my own discs - Private info.

Please do not share! This is work in progress and has been for over a year - but im starting to share some details. I have been working on an aero rotor, with the thermal performance of a bigger rotor. That is the aim. Its early days yet but these must be the most expensive rotors ever made! More to come soon.

Wheely shit part 2

Joe was going to send me a new CRW rear wheel but apparently there is a stock issue (read, QC backlog). So i wanted to fix what i had on hand and finish the testing. This is how i sorted the centerlock thread on the CRW - an older cheaper Steel lockring (they come with the cheap Shimano mtb discs) and some thread cutting compound. A Wheely Shit Saturday part 1

It was all going so well for the Megas. Almost the fastest wheel in the aero test, beaten by the CRW today after finally getting that up and running (more on that in part 2 and 3). Anyway, i was taking the wheel off after the 4th ride (less than 150km) to put the CRW back on and noticed all the screws fixing the spokes flange to the hub on the disc side are loose. Glad I nipped this one in the bud before people start to buy them. Drives me mad, these released products that basically are not finished! This one...just can't cheat the physics im afraid. Back to the drawing board. Theres a reason why the best trainers are heavy and have that extra high speed flywheel.

Eurobike this week

I managed to blag a few days leave off this week and am going to Eurobike! The funds from you guys, here, have helped make this happen! So a big thank you from me. Let me know if there is anything you want to see, I will have very limited time there so I will do as much as poss. 

Busy weekend on two projects at home! Finished the first trial of the DT protector for the DH bike and made an attempt at tackling the rust on the e38 rear panel!

Bit of an update this one and random thoughts. 

Big rides: In the UK the weather has been balmy for the last 5 weeks. It hasn't rained. Arable farmers are crying into their failing crops, but cyclists are loving it. At the moment i am riding about 9h a week on the mtb and 3/4h on road. It's light till about 2230 which helps. Yesterday I joined a big ride with some of Francis Cade's cohort around the north Pennines. In total it was 138km and 2600m of climbing. Nothing too daunting, ...

2nd time out on the new DH bike

Not sure if of interest to you guys, but this is how i started riding bikes as a teenager. Downhill! I was fat and didn't like pedalling. Learning the new bike, full review coming soon if interested. It's a real ground hugger, the bottom of it is smashed up already despite going up spring rate and shifting some weight forwards!

New bike day

With a difference.... I turned up at Bike Park Wales and rode this down some gnarly tracks for 2 days of abuse. I'd bought the bike totally unseen. A risk? Yes but hell was it worth it.
