Testing my own discs - Private info.

Please do not share! This is work in progress and has been for over a year - but im starting to share some details. I have been working on an aero rotor, with the thermal performance of a bigger rotor. That is the aim. Its early days yet but these must be the most expensive rotors ever made! More to come soon.

Bascially the answer is...this one was a machining error (first one of the batch when it was new). There is a section of brake track that is slightly thicker than the rest (by about 30 microns). This caused a real grabbing sensation in the caliper, causing more friction and more heat in that area. This thick area corresponds exactly to the arc thats gone blue!

Not quite :)

Wild guess is that the disc runs hotter on one side because heat isn't dissipated evenly around it. Perhaps the contact with the hub is imperfect, so more heat gets transferred into the hub on one side?
