Patreon - Discord Community Connectivity (Update)

We’ve had some Samurai members tell us they’d had some issues connecting with the Samurai community on Discord. We’re aware of the problem and the mod team is working on it. Please DM me here if you ever have any issues or reach out to the team in Discord. Ordinarily, if you’re using the same email on Patreon as on Discord, the bot will automatically open up the Samurai community. It recognizes the same email on both platforms. There are glitches every now and then, less than before ...

Ninja aren't real, right?

So, I'm heading to Koka city in Shiga tomorrow for some Ninja game. No idea what will happen. I'm going to try to live stream it at a NOT great time of 5:30pm JST. I'll set up the stream in advance but I know most in the US will be asleep. Anyhow, I'll be hunted by Ninja or something ... I'm guessing it's not real. We'll see. Or not see. I think sunset is 5:15pm ...
I've a Omi Wagyu Beef stream on Monday planned and some other stuff too around Kyoto - the countryside! Or at least, not in ...

October Postcard - Samurai Battle Festival

Since I was in the US, And d forgotten to post this month’s postcard! I did it on the Sauneai Discord chat but not here. I’m sorry about that. They just went out TODAY ✈️ autumn color stamps with the ¥20 deer 🦌 stamp because of the price hike this month. It makes a cuter stamp collection! They should arrive by the end of the month or first week of Nov but they’re all on the way ^_^ postal drop on Instagram stories today.

Heading to Tokyo … 25 years ago

So, I found this photo while back home - my first trip to Japan, leaving from the US to Osaka, July 1998! Boy, I had no idea I’d still be living in Japan 25 years later! First and last time I wore a suit on a long haul flight 😂 ✈️ now I’m at JFK waiting for my 2am flight to Haneda. Time to get back home from home. Next episode for main channel: Miyazaki Gyoza, Japan’s no.1 Dumpling Town (2023) 😋 🥟

Important Changes HERE - They're good!

John here, in the USA! (jet lag - ugh!) I wanted to share Patreon's video about the changes this platform has launched. It's about time! I'll be uploading more videos directly to Patreon - more content HERE for the community as a result. In the past, we'd have to rely on other platforms for interactivity. It didn't feel like the ONLY in JAPAN community was in one spot.,
In 2024, I will be changing GO! to more "studio podcast" type episodes. Of course I will continue to do on the road live...

ONLY in JAPAN Bus Tour Finishes String with Koi

Our first day was all about the fireworks and the festival around it. Today — Nishikigoi, the birthplace of koi and a few stops to learn about them. Sharing the Japanese countryside with our community was an amazing experience, the food so good, cooked by talented local ladies with all local ingredients. Learned A LOT about what we can do better and what works, I feel like we should try again in 2024 for sure, but it was a lot of work and the experience of organizing this with locals is som...
