"Chernobýl" 67-68-69

The Meed's chant here is taken from a Mansi fairytale, because God damn, does it sound like "this is the water and this is the well", oooohhhh. I have no talent for words, but at least I have good sources!

And what do we have here?

It's the upper half for Slavic Nihilism #3 cover by my beautiful dude ANTON BOOGAI!

THE GUEST

Hey!Look, it's David from one of my favorite movies of the last decade, The Guest!

I'm usually very not-so-sure about drawing real people - anything close to portraits, really - but this time, out of huge list of different options my dear patron gave me for this piece I still felt an urge to try and capture David's incredible Bugs Bunny energy.

Check out some of my initial sketch...

Aaaaaaand we're back! With more translation frustration.

Sometimes... Well, say, you're writing a comic for an anthology called SLAVIC Nihilism. And you're trying to put as much SLAVIC stuff in it as possible! It's your mission, right? So, in your Russian script, you write in something goofy, like "надёжа-государь" - an expression very viral in Russian language (in many ways thanks to 2019-08-28 12:01:00 +0000 UTC View Post

Inking robots

I was so, so so right to find some time for Alita this summer! First run is just marvellous, and I will wear on my sleeve the influence of it on my current robot-body-horror stage of work.

Dreams of Nihilism

Hello, everybody! Trying to get some Slavic Nihilism content back to your feed ASAP!

The current plan is:

1) Getting back to publishing regular strips next week

2) Opening preorders for print copies of #3 in about 3 weeks

3) Having this monster done and printed before the end of September because we're going to have my favorite comics festival here in Saint Petersburg and I'll just die if the book doesn't make it in time for it.

Fingers crossed for everything wor...

Another week of inking

I just love this little page right here! Look at it!

Also: a small cameo of the best designed hand tool/weapon from the last 20 years of videogames. This weird swirl is half of 2017's Prey  charm!

Hellblazer and Akira Boys

Mooore patron commissions! Super exciting about everything we have here <3

Sadly, this time I don't have any videos or process shots (just "before" and "after" for mister Konstantine). Constrained and awkward conditions of shooting a process video has been causing me way too much anxiety lately.

But anyway, look at this fucking bike! Akira is truly the only possible reason for me to draw such a boring thing - and try to do it entertainingly!

Peeking at sneaks

Hey folks!

I've just finished another issue of my current book (only one issue left to go, babeeeeh!) and I am very happy with the result. Next I need to finish some Patreon commissions (FINALLY) - and, most importantly, I'm gonna try to get my Slavic Nihilism mojo back. Feel incredibly shitty about another unsolicited hiatus -____-

Also, here's a veeeeery chill lynx!

Envisioning your work in dog vision

A few days ago I was talking with my buddy Gleb Melnikov (who not only colors his own stuff very often, but also E N J O Y S doing it) about coloring our own comics. Of course, Gleb works for Boom! with Roman Titov now, but never in my life have I met another comic artist so enthusiastic about coloring his own pages  and willing to do so :...

Big, small - doesn't matter at all

This book is - hopefully - very close not only to its completion, but to official announcement, too. I'm doing Stalinism on issues 4 and 5 (out of 5) while the other guys are killing it on colors and covers. I desperately want to talk about this book, and at least I can do it for a little while here!

As I'm sure I've already mentioned here before, during my 7 Deadly Sins run I began inking some pages on sheets of A4 paper instead of A3. It was ...

Female Prisoner Scorpion #701

Here's a non-Patreon commission from a while back! This person was kind enough to sponsor me drawing one of my favorite movie characters, Female Prisoner Scorpion (specifically, her version from the third film, Beast Stable).

I don't have a video, but here are few process shots:

State of affairs #2

In other news:

1. Souls Love #2 will be printed in a week or two!

2. My new print guys now have GOLDEN paint for their shiny risograph, so I'm seriously considering printing the next F*R*I*E*N*D*S (working title :D) micro-zine in black and gold. Getting excited just thinking about it!

Patreon commissions + state of affairs #1

Yay, we're moving with our commissions list, finally! The heat in Saint Petersburg has been unbearable recently, and on top of that, my lightbox produces a lot of fucking heat by itself, so I've avoided drawing commissions (for which I also wanted to capture some process videos) for far too long. Sorry everybody!

Anyway, here's Boomer from Michel Fiffe's COPRA. I love this series so much and I really hope I'm the first to make the stupid Monste...

I really wanted to talk about a page of this comic as a whole at some point, so here we go!

First things first - I gotta admit ( and I've probably already did before!) - first chapter of this story was basically improvised and figured out as it went, webcomic-style. I was just drawing tons of panel sketches on special little cards and then using some of the cards to construct the story flow, moving cards around, grouping them into 3 panels strips and then 3 strips pages. The di...

Souls Love #2 preview

I'm about to release the second FromSoftware zine digitally and open preorders for physical copies in my store (which will hopefully fund the print ASAP), and you could check out some pages from it right now! Got a character from each of the games below, except for Demon's Souls - I've never played it and don't want to pretend that I did.

And hey, if you're $5+ patron - brace yourself for the full pdf coming your way in about a week ;)

THE MERGING IS OVER (and this month is almost over, too!) - I'm finally done with editing my 2-4 years old pages from the first issue of this future book. Finally, delivering something new to our comics library! Brian Funk Kickstarted this first issue back in 2015. Sinnin' and inkin' #7

The 7 Deadly Sins, Issue 6, pages 26, 27 and 28.

God, it's been 14 months already, and this sequence still makes me tremble. I think it was the very last batch of pages from the final issue, and I managed to finish them in time for my self-imposed deadline. That day I inked around 5 pages total - 3 in just one sitting for this video - and then with the speed of wind ran to a nearby bar. This labour (and the bigger streak of pencilling and inking from...
