Here's the latest animal fact-sheet for Elyden, detailing the Kharkharadontid Auk - a terror-penguin, inspired by the albino penguins from H. P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Maddness. He's one of my fave authors, and I've always been fascinated by the idea of creepy penguins living in the far corners of the world and this is my homage to that Idea.

It's been a while coming, but here is the next part in the make the nation activity. after the last round of suggestions, I've added to the history and come up with some culture, which revolves around cannibalism - lovely! But don't let that dissuade you - Cisnerians are no base savages. In fact they are a nation that is rapidly embracing industrialization, yet clings to a older, more feral religion that has been forgotten by most:
Cisneria is a land whose culture is dominat...

Here's the fact box for the next Atlas map to be published, detailing a region that has already been featured in a fact box before. This is an updated version of a fact box I shared last year, and takes into account changes made to the region as I created the new map.
This is also the first of my new-style fact boxes, with extra information (government and ruler), as well as a larger, clearer map, which I'll be using on all new fact boxes going forward. I'll slowly be updating the...

Its a few weeks late, but here it is - new art for Elyden! A simple landscape designed to show what the Strait of Nárthel looks like today - its waters are dried, leaving behind rusted hulks of ships and pools of stagnant salt water. What was once a well-travelled route is...

This should make a few patrons very happy :)
So, after having to upgrade my RAM to be able to work on this map, and still having to wait for ages every time I opened the map or did any changes to it, the Inner Sea map I started a few years ago is finally done.
I had stopped a while ago after flattening the image with no backup by mistake and had to practically start over from scratch, so gave up. Since then I'd made a lot of changes to the topography of the surrounding regi...

Here's a sneak peek at what I'm working on at the moment - the A0 (841 x 1189 mm) at 400 dpi.
The map itself is done (but I'm saving that for the finished map!), and I've been working slavishly for the past week on the labels, which are, to put it lightly, a slog to get done!
On top of that, the sheer size of the map, coupled with the thousands of text layers, are making the process pretty frustrating and time-consuming as Photoshop is...

It's been a while since I had a miscellaneous encyclopaedia update that's not directly related to maps, so thought I'd post some stuff I've recently added. I've commissioned my first landscape are specifically for Elyden and hope to have it posted with a related map over the next weeks while I work on the gigantic Inner Sea map, which is taking ages - LOTS of labels to get done on that one!

Here's map #54 of the Atlas Elyden, depicting the 33 different tribes of Mulciber.
You can refer to the companion post from today detailing all the regions named in the map, if you're interested in the map. This is one of the most label-intensive maps that I've made in a long time and there's loads of settlements making up the 33 different tribes.
I also tried experimenting with the tribal symbols, in the inset map, but thought they were too childish, so I went for a map depictin...

What would that horrid image possibly be?
That's all 466 current pages of the Encyclopaedia Elyden. I'm still going through it, editing and standardising the text across entries, as well as hyperlinking all pertinent entries. It;s taking a while :)
The yellow highlights are finished text. The sporadic appearance of yellow is due to the monthly encyclopaedia entries I post alongside each new map - as I finish those updates I add them to the encyclopaedia and edit them as I go. ...
