EDIT the interative pdf link is now expired.
I'm just testing some sites that offer conversion from PDF to flippaple online pages, which I thought might be an interesting thing to offer with the Encyclopaedia Elyden once it's ready.
Pleas elet me know what you think. I personally think it's nifty and am really excited by the options that this presents - specifically the document is fully linkable so when i get down to making the Encyclopaedia Elyden, i will make sure it's filled w...

Here's one of my textless, high-res maps from early last year, that was available to my Acolyte-tier Patrons, made free to anyone to download, as a taster of what Acolyte-tier patrons can gain access to every month.
Thanks for the support

Ok patrons, this is the 2nd time that I’ve hit my $100 milestone and I'm hoing to stay there :) so I think it’s time I start working on finalising a draft of the Encyclopaedia Elyden – both in print and PDF.
To those who don’t know, the Encyclopaedia Elyden is the name of the document that I’ve been working on for the past 12-years or so. It started out as a series of bullet-points I noted down as I slowly began expanding the world I was creating...

I'm mulling over which map to work on next, and thought I'd let you guys choose :) Regardless of which is chosen, I'll eventually get round to making both.
The maps are unrelated to each other and are practically antipodes - one to the far west of the Inner Sea, and the other to the far east.
Sepahaunat
An peninsula and archipelago that link the continents of Sammaea in the south with Llachatul in the north. The archipelago and the sea to its east are known for th...

So here it is - the 2nd half of the map featured here.
This was quite an ordeal - lots of labels and icons to do and a LOT of encyclopaedia entries, which you can see in their glory here
I'll be posting a stitched A2 map of the two regions together over the coming weeks as well as an Atlas El...

Here's a sneak peak of the Surrach flags map that I'm working on. It took me a while to get all the flags done, and most of them have an element that's representative of the city and region they, um, represent.
The region is so large that I opted to mix the flavours - from a more
European influence in the N-E due to past colonistion efforts by Korachan, to a more middle-eastern feel in more central regions, and african in the S-E.
the labels denote:
- region name
- capital...

I'm calling all my Shaper patrons - all 3 of you :) - for help. I'm working on a less detailed map of the Surrach, that focusses on the banners (flags) of each of the states. I've come up with a bunch over the past few days, but though it might be fun to ask you for help.
You cna pick a few cities, and, using the encyclopaedia entries from here for ideas on the region's flavour, give me ideas f...

I'm working on a follow-up map to the Western Surrach and the (as-yet unpublished) Eastern Surrach maps, that combines the two together and details the heraldry of its 74 'city-states' though can't decide on the Orientation.
The idea with the map is to detail the heraldry of each region and list its name, capital city and, if space, permits, the city's population and main resources/exports.
I've run into a problem with picking the best orientation - either portrait or ...

As the winning result of the poll I ran a few weeks ago, here is the first part of the treatise on the mortal races and the Demiurges:
the Demiurges
What follows is an abridged standardised form of the Mythologia Elyden, detailing the creation of the world and the spread of the mortal races in the time of mythohistory.
Two-and-twenty Demiurges there were, each a master of the Materia Omna - they were responsible for shaping the raw materials of the univers...

So the results of the poll are in and the winner is: 'the Two and Twenty Mortal Tribes and Demiurges'
I'm already working on the article and have a condensed history of Elyden's Mythology written out. Following this will be entries about each of the Two-and-Twenty mortal tribes and the corresponding Demiurges, and some of their history. There's quite a lot of writing involved in this one so I might end up splitting this into 3 text updates, with a nice in-world PDF compiling everythin...

So, there may be a few labels I missed but I'm calling this one done. I haven't worked on a map with this many labels in the Atlas Style before and to be honest, I'm not looking forward to doing it again any time soon (which I will be, for the Eastern Surrach, next month :)
I will be posting an exhaustive 20,000-word entry separately, detailing locations depicted in the map (and some of which are located in its companion, the Eastern Surrach, which I will hopefully be uploading next mo...

I was really hoping to have my 1st half of the Surrach map ready for posting today, but it’s just too damned big and is really taking ages to get done. The Surrach is so big I've had to split the map into 2 halves (west and east). The region is so large that even the single west half I've posted here is bigger than any other Atlas Map I've posted so far, and it will have proportionatley more labels than any other map too, which is taking lots of time - keep in mind that every label on the map ...

Map #33 is ready, and with it comes a chunk of pretty important history, written here for the first time in full in any form - the events that led to the Sundering of the Korachani empire into two, one part of which would become the Reformed empire of Sarastro.
You can find an updated key to the map here.
This is the low-res version available to everyone. 2018-06-20 17:38:13 +0000 UTC

Those of you who also follow my fb page (www.facebook.com/nathansmaps) might have seen something about this already, but I thought I'd go into more details with my patrons.

I chose save as and changed the format to .jpg...

Here's a new map for the Atlas detailing total hours of daylight during the Summer Solstice.
Though this one looks simple it took a lot of messing about with equations to figure out the total hours of daylight during the Summer solstice by latitude, given that the axial tilt of Elyden (22 degrees 52’) is different to that of Earth. I managed to get it done and added some notable cities to give an idea of how many hours of Daylight they get during the Summer Solstice.
Cit...

Seventy Bits
White moon glistens off slick metal. The man runs his hands over the surface. Pocks and contours barely visible to the naked eye make themselves felt beneath his touch, the gritty texture of brown rust bringing sensation to fingers that feel increasingly dead to him.
He ignores the possibility of dregs and slags squatting in the streets around him, what their sidelong glances might show – a strange man, in patricians’ clothes, ru...

I'm going to give you a small bit of worldbuilding today - the Lord's Prayer, common within the Church of the Undying Machine in lands occupied by the High-empire of Korachan.
Children are indoctrinated into the Church of the Machine at a young age, forced to memorize its words without knowing or caring for their history or any meaning they may once have possessed.
