This month we are covering the 'workhorse' of the Soviet Navy, the Delta III SSBN. This is the most reliable ballistic missile submarine the Soviets built. The systems were robust and they made enough of them that there was one always on patrol through the 1980s until the collapse of the Soviet Union on Christmas Day1991.

I have been asked by fellow Patreons to post links to my YouTube videos here on Patreon so no one misses one.
Pro: You will see more updates on Patreon and be notified of every YouTube video post.
Con: Patreon will update more regularly and push Sub Brief content down the webpage between Sub Brief posts.
Workaround: I will 'pin' the most recent Sub Brief at the top of the Patreon web page so you will always see it first. I will make this change based on a simple...

No Audio.
Rare video footage of a Delta SSBN launching to the pier for trials. The second half of the video shows a lot of the engineers who designed her.

This is a great piece on what the United States thought about Russian cruise missiles in the early '70's. They were way ahead of us, but there is a little bias in this report as not to embarrass us too much. Good historical perspective.

Delta I Sub Brief update: "It is written." -Moses, I am in the fact-check phase which can take a while because my second/third sources don't always get back right away. Some polishing and inserting some awesome photos from Saturnax is in progress. Should be released 'soon' (tm).

I am excited to carry on the Russian SSBN story. The Delta SSBN is the next generation of the very popular Yankee SSBN. Over the next 8 to 10 weeks, we will be diving into the very capable Delta Project 667B and all its variants. Like the Yankee, the Delta continues to show versatility, capability, and much-improved reliability.
The Delta series will include almost 100 individual submarines, their deployments, causalities, and success in great detail. I have access to the sh...

Not all the Sub Briefs are on Patreon (maybe I should fix that). The original Sub Briefs were YouTube videos and can still be found on my YouTube channel under the "Sub Brief" playlist.
Keep in mind, these older Sub Briefs are much shorter and I was not as good a researcher/presenter as I am now. But, if you have watched all the Sub Briefs here on Patreon, you should know there are even more on my YouTube channel 2020-08-26 14:31:03 +0000 UTC
