Savage Squirrel's terrifying reputation hasn't happened yet, and Patrick Popper is a shortarse.

My loyal minions come through in a pinch - again! Here's your color Here there be Dragons page for dessert, as tradition demands. Thank you, Mole!

I've lost faith in any kind of revolution happening in the USA. But "reforming from within" won't work, either. You can't use complete corruption to fix complete corruption. But what does that leave? Are we stuck in this mess forever?

Hey, Savage Squirrel is just Patrick Popper at this point in time, a high school student from a working class family. He can't afford a car, yet.

Squeaky Clean Comics on Sundays?

So I was still looking for Mitch Beiro's "Rouge and the Syndicate Daughter". Didn't find it, but I did find most of the print-originals for "Squeaky Clean Comics". It's one of the first 'zines I ever published, somewhere around 1989, when the Small Press was still going strong. The Small Press, in case any of you ignorant toddlers don't know, was how artists did it before the Internet. We copied up small runs of our 'zines on photocopiers, and then traded & sold them via snail-mail. Ah, I...

The original Karno's Heresies!

Once again, I was scrambling for Saturday Filler, when I found this 2-pager from 2002. Twenty-three years ago? Yikes.

Anyway, it never got run because it was soon replaced by a much better filled-out 12-pager, where I discuss the above points with a talking bookstore dog. But that means you probably haven't seen this proto-Heresy before. So enjoy this peek into the past, where a naive young Karno dips a toe into heresy. The poor fool - he had no idea how bad things could get.

Yeah, posted way late in the day. Gawds, I'm exhausted. I gotta figure out a better way to get through the day, because this ain't sustainable.

Seems the quick thinking that's kept Savage alive through years of vigilantism is an inborn trait.

Sorry to be a day late (and a dollar short?). Been a lot going on. Traci's back from the hospital, but a couple of friends are now in it. Made a medicine run for one of 'em this morning. Human bodies, what a weird thing to be living in. Especially at our age.

So I didn't have anything new for this Sunday (I'd saved up a lot of chores for the weekend). But wait! Am I not the steward of Mark Tucker's artistic legacy? Not to mention Mitch Beiro's! I'd just run a sexy piece from one of them!

But going through Beiro's stuff, looking for "Rouge and the Syndicate daughter" made me too sad. Too many drawings of the house and studio he was going to build once he was out - and when he got out, all that awaited him was lonely misery and death by ca...

The Ace of Hearts in "Make Me!"

I am NOT a violent monster, and here's the toe of my boot to prove it!

Again, I am caught without a Cartoon History of Iceland page, so instead, I whipped out another Ace of Hearts page at unsafe speeds.

I wonder why I daydream about this guy so much? His jokes are a little labored, and while he's a pretty decent singer, his dancing is only so-so. I guess I just like his general attitude.

First Kill, part 3.

This is posted a bit late, because I didn't get to bed 'till after midnight, yesterday. And then it took a long time to get to sleep, because I was worried about my wife in the hospital. It seems she suffers from a character flaw common among good people: She'll work herself to the bone looking after others, but neglect her own maintenance in the process.

But no permanent damage's been done, and I just now got a call to come pick her up. Yay! But from now on, I'm gonna watch like a h...

I roughed out these pages a decade ago? More? I guess back then, I had more time to work on backgrounds.

Back when I first roughed this tale out, I was going to have Scott Ruggels do the art for it. But life got in the way for both of us, and then....well, then he died. So here I am, doing everything myself, again. Any aspiring artists out there who like Savage and his antics? I got a job for you!

Mole's coloring work on these pages really punches 'em up, in my opinion. How did I ever survive without my loyal minions?

And that wraps up this particular Sunday Pron story. What should I draw next? Been awhile since we looked in on Teeka and Doctor Dee. And even longer since Jim and Picca. And I've been meaning to check up on the immortal Kitten Kelly and her friends.

Huh, and maybe I should finish that story I started with the young colts and the well-rounded piggy mama, "A little bit of buggery makes the day go by"? And "Warhorse" has some sex in it, even though it's mostly savage mockery of the mi...

Savage Squirrel's origins.

I spent way too much time trying to dig out the original art for this page, but somewhere, somehow, in the 33 years since it was drawn, it was lost. I did manage to find a full-size color copy, though, so that will have to do for now?

And here we pause our tale of the magical Mink. Seems we're going ahead with the Savage Squirrel origin story next, because I already drew the first couple pages.

One should be careful with the food cooked by beings who do not eat and have no tastebuds. At least Kromko, the Blue Knight's apprentice, seems to be coming along nicely.

I'll be wrapping up "The To-Do List" this week. Should we plunge right into another Mink story, or maybe switch to a different character for a bit? I've got a "Savage Squirrel's origins" tale I've been meaning to finish up.
