Those are Gryphonnians weapons: top left the Thompson Annialator, Steyr-Hahn m12/p16 and Frommer Stop.

Don't Let The Dopple Bite

I completely forgot about this one! Here's the final lineart and flat colours.
Initially I wanted to use painterly style for this pic, but it's probably better (and much easier to be honest) to use "cut & grad" style of rendering, that is with a lasso tool and soft brush.

I grew up watching He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and loved Netflix reboot of its spin-off She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. So I took a short break from ponies to draw a couple of characters from the show!
Here's the first one - Catra.

This scene was meant to be "show not tell" Starlight growing jealous over Twilight and Sunburst. However, I didn't want to dwell on this subplot too much and this scene was replaced by a short dialogue.

Very "rough" vectored page with flat colours. Next step is to change Velvet's expression per request & start working on details like tapering lines. (Bezier tool in Inkscape creates lines that are not "pointy" at the end, so this ink-like effect needs to be added separately for each stroke).

Summary of Art 2018
This is my 4th annual "Summary of Art" post!
2018 has been the busiest and most insane year of my life in general, as I was away from home almost 9 months.

It was funny little experiment. I can see how painting with grayscale first makes things easier: I could focus only on shapes and values and worry about colours much later. However the usual problem (for a beginner) is ending up with something much darker than intended. I think I'll stick to the more "traditional" approach.
New laptop
My new laptop arrived today and I'm currently intalling programs & syncing data. As you can see, I struggle with cable management :P

I have decided to use a different workflow for this pic. It's rendering monochrome illustration first and applying colours on so called glazing layers at the end. Next step - blending.
