Original thumbnail sketch and final illustration. The intention for the shot will be for Snake to actually pop up from the crate and swing around to the position you see in the image, although to keep this sequence at a break neck speed the actual "popping out" from behind the crate will me more implied than clearly seen. Hopefully will make sense when complete.

Added background, and kept the frames in that I removed in the previous post. All that work for 1 second. The next shot will be Snake popping out from behind a crate and aiming his gun at the next target.

So I've changed the impact speed by removing few frames right before he's actually shot. Also, full clarification, I know I said I'd keep these progress images exclusive to Patreon but I did post this on my social media now that I feel a little less paranoid about Konami. Things may change though, it's just that obviously my audience on Patreon is a lot smaller than it is on facebook so the response there is greater. Endorphins, you know how it is.

Now to draw the background.

Getting a bit grim, but it's all for entertainment, trust me.

So I've deleted most evidence of the project, including video and pictures, from my social media, ie; YouTube, Facebook, Blogger. I know I sound paranoid but I'm just protective of the project and I made a mistake putting it out there so early and I can't risk a potential cease and desist. All updates will be exclusive to Patreon and nothing will be seen outside of Patreon until completion.
On with the show...

... and anticipating the inevitable cease and desist. I know I should be excited about this but I'm now sort of regretting posting what I've done before completion. Ah well, keep on rolling.

This image is several times larger than the canvas as indicated by the border framing the soldier which acts as a guideline for the zoom in when he's shot.

I'm still unsure how to begin this next sequence. I may end up quickly zooming in on the soldier as he turns to fire then hold the shot once he takes a bullet to the face. I won't use much blood so much as I'll have his face cave in. Again, still hesitant about this scene.
The miniature M16 at the bottom is from a Medicom Naked Snake figure I own (custom) that I totally forgot I had so I'll be using that as reference for certain angles.
Also I want to thank you guys for the feedbac...

So some of the feedback I've been getting has brought up how the patrolling guards and Big Boss' walking/movement is unnaturally stiff, however it seems as though I don't have high enough of a critical eye to determine how exactly to correct these errors as, I'll be honest... I don't have much of a problem with them. But it seems to be a problem for viewers so far.
If I am to fix these scenes a lot of progress will be set back so I'm hesitant to go and reanimate these older scenes, not t...

I've come up with a imgur gallery for my process, not sure how helpful it is as I'm not a teacher and being self taught means I may or may not know what I'm talking about.

So after much thought I'm going to jump right into my first action sequence. Might be my most ambitious moment to animate yet as I always have trouble with anatomy. Based on this part in the game (https://tinyurl.com/kkvbzha) the real magic of this scene will be editing and where to cut kinetically. The sketch above, which will act as a guide, is where it kicks off, with the soldier raising his weapon but before...

Here's all the clips edited together for now. It's not perfect, I need to adjust some of the frame rate here and there. May reanimate the cardboard box as it lifts off a bit too quick. Still contemplating on what the next shot will be as I've only just now comprehended how much happens in the original game so I must be considerate as to which scenes I use in order to move this thing along. Honestly this has all been a shot in the dark.

A culmination of the recent shots I've been working on. Yes, I know Big Boss looks like he's walking like a robot, and yes I'm too lazy to fix it. Though I may go back and reanimate his smile so his cheeks move up a bit more. I don't know what I'm doing.

Slightly larger than the canvas' height as there will be a short vertical pan downward where the box will lift up and walk offscreen while the camera in the back strafes right.

Now the pull back shot (http://i.imgur.com/GK4hh2g.jpg) where the cardboard box (foreground) will get up and move out of frame.

Based on this particular camera to the left (https://tinyurl.com/ktfo4gj), it runs upward against the wall which obviously isn't something cameras do so much as it was a way for the game programmers to have it survey the area.
Instead of going with your typical rotating camera I created what is a fictitious CCTV slider (you can see to the lower left of my screenshot) which the camera rides along up the w...

From what I understand only fake CCTV have red lights to trick intruders, but I want a red light damnit so there's a red light.

I know I've been spamming posts a bit lately, but the next next few shots may take a bit longer. Also, I'm going to try and post progress videos as gifs from now on instead of embedding unlisted YouTube clips.
Edit: Upon viewing this posted, the gif doesn't run all that smooth so I may resort to YouTube in the future. I dunno.

Big Boss' head will be in the foreground observing our Hero. Also I'll actually post updates here on the page instead of through messaging as I initially had no idea how any of this worked.

So several weeks for a mere 2 seconds of added animation haha. That's the game of life, though, folks. It doesn't make much sense now but once I finish the subsequent shots then it ought to come together. On to the next one.

Here's the final version of the current shot I've been working on. It's only two seconds long, but I wanted to put a lot of detail into the background much like every previous shot. Here's a render of the control room: http://imgur.com/a/rwVoX
