The two facts of life: You gotta look good. You gotta secure your luggage. What better way to make those a reality than to restore your luggage rack?
These parts were pretty rough overall, but the two biggest issues were the super bent spoiler piece and also the recently discovered issue of the mounting studs crumbling away. I already bought a used spoiler, as shown in Part 8 of the Fiero series, but the studs still needed to be repaired. In this video, I do that and so much more. ...

In my previous post, I announced that merch was now out and at a discounted price for you guys for the first week. And that's still true! However, I'm changing up suppliers.
Originally, I was going with Teespring, since they are a great print on demand service. I was about to post the listings and set up the store, but Crowdmade called me up and we had a great couple of meetings and talks. I decided to go with them instead. That was until a few days ago.
I realized that I ju...

Hello! So there is finally merch available. And you guys get first dibs.
There's the Fiero / Fingerprints Workshop shirt I previously posted about:

As well as another simpler (and cheaper) design available in both white:

As I've shown in previous update videos as well as on Instagram, all of the bodywork for the fenders are done! They're ready to be painted and thrown back on the car. Well, almost. Although the cosmetic surface is great, it's how well that it can be mounted to the car that is the issue.
There's a little mounting bracket/tab thing that is broken in half on both fenders. Gotta fix those in order for everything to bolt up properly!

Rejoice, for he has uploaded. Finally. FINALLY, I finished this. I think this has been the longest a video has been set back (almost 3 weeks) solely due to lack of supplies holding up the project. We all know I take forever to upload, but it's usually because whatever I'm doing just takes a long time or because I'm working on secret (well, not anymore) projects.
In this video, I dabble in professional painting for the first time! It was very scary, overwhelming, but also a lot of ...

Sheesh. What a difference. This just goes to show that if you mess up painting something twice and finally get it right on the third time, you can really have something that looks good.
This and its driver side counterpart were the final things needed to be painted/restored in order to be finished filming the Saturday Projects video about learning to paint! Very exciting stuff.
I literally just finished writing the script for that video and I'm off to record narration here s...

It's been said by a lot of people that painting is about 95% prep work and and 5% painting. That is very true. The slightest amount of light is just starting to show at the end of the tunnel of paint. The bodywork is done on about 40% of the panels, and I should be releasing the Saturday Projects on learning to paint very soon.

I think I've said "the last of the body repairs" maybe three times now, and I'm starting to feel like I'm going to say it a few more. Filling and sanding cracks or chips is more bodyWORK than body REPAIR, and there's definitely going to be a lot more of that.
Also, I descend into madness in this video with my inability to say the word "cure".
Please enjoy this extra little video. The clips from this is probably going to become a 5 second montage in Part 10. Hopefully this gives yo...

Hello there! A few of you have been asking, and I know I mentioned it in the Q&A video, but I'll be releasing some merch soon! I worked with a buddy of mine from design school on branding, font stylization, etc. and combined with a graphic I made, this is what we came up with!
This is one of the first samples I have received. This particular one is from Teespring, though it's looking like I'll be going with another company called Crowdmade. I had a meeting with a rep from them today...

Whether it's paint running out or bugs confusing car parts for a landing pad, there's always something to slap me in my proverbial face.
The painting process is going really well actually, but there's a few roadblocks in the way! Hopefully I can get it wrapped up relatively soon.

My first attempt at using an HVLP spray gun was less than stellar. There were a number of things that went wrong, and I ultimately had to redo all of the work that I did in order to get it done right.
Better products, better settings, and a better pace made all the difference in the world. There are still some small issues, but I now have the work ethic, and more importantly the confidence, needed in order to paint the rest of the car! I'm very excited about that.

Warning: This video contains footage of cool future project cars.
Hello! We're finally nearing the final stages of the Fiero restoration. Paint is really all that's left at this point! Well, the windshield too. And the headliner. And other trim pieces. And the sun visors. And adding a rear view mirror. And fixing things on the dash. And addressing the lack of seat belts. And lights. And seals. And tires. Okay so maybe there is a whole lot left... but compared to the entirety...

Here's the Q&A video! I never realized how sarcastic I really was until editing this.
Thank you for those of you that asked questions! There were a few questions that were asked by you guys that were also asked in the YouTube community post, so I might've answered them outside of the Patreon segment in the video.
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy it!

Luckily, the repairs I did in Part 8 of the Fiero series are still holding up just fine. No separation happening and no cracks forming. The only thing that is bad, is the shape. I had to grind away a lot of the panel in order to correctly blend in the filler when doing the original repair, and by doing that, it resulted in a completely smooth panel, but one that is not the correct contour. The roof panel border around the window is supposed to be more or less of a perfect offset

I just realized that I forgot to show the final product of the "How I make my videos" post from a few days ago. Well... this is it! It's just a nice little recap of everything I've done to the car. It wasn't until writing the script for the video that I realized how much exactly that was. Crazy that it's already been over two years.

The results of video editing can create some of the most beautiful, saddening, joyous, or exhilarating experiences. The process of video editing... not so much. It's honestly tedious, boring, and a lot of micro-adjusting in order to get everything correct. I am by no means a professional editor, nor am I anywhere close, but I do know how to move and click a mouse.
This is a little look at what goes into making one of my videos. As I say, it's a little bit different than my normal ...

Hello! At some point this week I'll be posting a video announcing a Q&A video! A video about a video? That's right. And this is a post about a video about a video.
I wanted to let you guys know early! So uhh... leave some questions in the comments on this post and I will answer them in the video.
It's intended to be a Fiero Project Q&A, but if you want to ask stuff about me particularly (date of birth, mother's maiden name, childhood street I grew up on, etc.), that's cool...

Yo peeps! I want to apologize. I was hoping to get the edit done for Part 9 by earlier today, but it has just been way more work than I anticipated. This episode has been the most footage yet (around 15 hours) and the longest narration to record (I still have to actually record more). I'll post it here as soon as I get it done, which might be something like 5 am CST? Not as early as I would have liked, but still early.
Again I'm sorry, but I hope you guys enjoy it! Thank you so ve...

If you're a fan a me and my channel, then you might know that some of the earliest videos I ever uploaded were visual effect tests, animations, and other things of the sort. (They're still there if you want to check them out! Keep in mind I was 12 back in 2006 so not everything is that great.) I still think of myself more as a filmmaker than I do as an automotive repair guy. I like cars a lot, but I like other things more haha. I haven't really done a whole lot of VFX since high school, but a...

Back again! This time the car is as clean as a whistle that has just been cleaned.
Do you want to see more of the projects I have in the works in future Talkin' Tuesday vids? I don't know if I said numbers before. But there are 2 more project cars (3 if you include my brother's car) and 3 motorcycles that will all have either their own series or a dedicated single ...

If you ever wondered what goes on in my head when I'm filming all of these videos, here is this. I basically just spew my thoughts out.
I'm sure I'll have a lot more videos like this to film going forward! I had a lot of fun making this video (honestly more fun than I have had editing in a while). It's a lot more unpolished than the typical video I upload, but the meat and potatoes are all still there.

Hello there! I mentioned in the last post that I want to start having more regular Patreon exclusive content with it also being a regular thing. The plan is to start sharing weekly updates on the project. This is my first attempt at that! I am a rambly mess so please forgive me.
Is this kind of video/update good? Bad? Medium? Let me know. Also, I have a lot more projects planned that literally only my family and friends know about, projects that I haven't shared anywhere online. Would y...

Well, more like speedy fast window. I still have to do the driver side. The passenger side door has been completely rebuilt! Very exciting stuff. Fiero windows are known to be slow compared to other cars, especially modern ones, but this is still a million times (yes I did the math) faster than what it used to be. Also, this is with an almost dead battery because I haven't started the car in days and I've been running the window up and down like a mad man, so it'll probably be faster with the...

Most people have two.
But as far as YouTube video thumbnails go, most videos have one. Unless you're like me and have changed them after uploading on a few occasions.
I thought I would do something a little more fun for Part 8! In the past, I've just taken a screenshot from somewhere in the video or a photo of the car at some point in the process and used that (with some touch-ups of course).
Now, it's time to embrace the clickbait (to an extent). I wanted to do something mo...

There have now been two unforeseen roadblocks in this next episode of the Fiero series. You probably have seen the news I shared on Instagram about the frame damage. That is all taken care of now (more or less), but another huge one that has set me back about three days now is the the roof shattering into four pieces!

As I said in Episode 1, the Fiero's exterior panels are all completely remova...

1) Part 8 is coming along nicely. I still have a lots more bodywork and sanding to do on the Fiero, but it'll be out within the month.
2) There will be merch soon! Multiple designs are in the works. When they are ready to be released, I'll make it so you guys get first access at a reduced cost.<...
