So, good news. My internet is back. So, I'll be uploading the next tutorial tomorrow if all goes well. While my internet was down, I did some more tinkering trying to get closer to the anime shader. And, we're still a while away from anything I'm happy with. It's a little hard to explain to makes it so difficult. But, if I tried to explain it, you can easily make a basic toon shader in Blender, but to make it look GOOD, you have to have the right normals, the right shading, the right outline,...

Alright, so, this video concludes the Rokoko Software part of the series. I'll be doing a few 2 or 3 more videos on how to use the data in Blender, and then we'll be moving to the final tutorial series of Modeling!
Today unfortunately my area experienced a really bad snow storm and the city's electrical supply has literally been frozen. And, I believe a tree has fallen on top of my buildings internet connection. For the next few days, I'm going to be extremely limited regarding connect...

Alright, so, the results are in. Looks like most of the squad is interested in Fantasy Animations, so I'm going to take that into account as I begin to plan our options. Fantasy is a pretty wide genre. The difference between animating a Bow and a sword are much bigger than the difference between animating different type of guns. So, it's gonna be quite the project. BUT, I also think it's going to be extremely useful once we get most of those animations mapped out for anyone who needs them - <...

So, as most of you know, in the coming months, when the Rokoko Gloves come in, we will be starting our 'Community Animation Library' project. As we approach the future, I'd like to get an idea of what you guys are most interested in for the animations?
Feel free to leave a comment for anything specific too-

Thank you to everyone who voted on the last Game Development Poll! I've taken the feedback and tried something new with what you guys commented. Most people who liked 'A' liked the deep base that permeated power. The people who liked 'B' liked the 'crisp' distinct cuts of the bullet upon each shot fired.
One of you mentioned to try and mix them together, which I hadn't thought of before, but it turned out pretty cool. Since most of the votes went to Sound 'B' I made that the base laye...

I'm currently waiting for the Rokoko Actress I've selected for the advanced Rokoko Series to finish studying/taking a test. It will be a few days before she's available to come for a recording session. In the spirit of making sure I'm not wasting time in the meanwhile, I decided to work on the weapons for Our upcoming game "Macrophage", and we have encountered our FIRST super important problem that I need your opinion on.
I'm trying to decide between two sounds for the Pistol. The pist...

Alright, aside from Battling YouTube, last month went pretty well lol. We basically hit Kinect exactly the way we planned! And, as promised, next we'll be doing a short series with the Motion Capture Suit Rokoko, and comparing the differences, and seeing what sort of quality you should realistically expect from a suit like this :)
With some luck, we'll also be able finally get to start of the Modeling series and build a few of the enemies for Macrophage. So, here we go!

Normally, I reserve the real-time updates for Tier 2 Patrons, but this recent event really affects the whole channel, so I think it's important for you all to know what's going on -
You may recall that yesterday one of our video's thumbnail was flagged for being "inappropriate". I contacted YouTube directly, and explained to them the situation, and YouTube agreed that they made a mistake and re-instated the thumbnail earlier last night. I was happy and shared the good news with you gu...

It goes without saying that the MoCap data for the Feet in Kinect are beyond abysmal. It's common for people to spend more time cleaning them up than using the data. If you find yourself in that situation, here's a little cheat you can use to cut that time by 80%!!!

Just thought I'd share a little victory we had today. As many of you know, one of the biggest challenges our channel faces especially during the Rigging Series was being demonetized and flagged for teaching people how to create the Human Body.
Our Shape Key thumbnail was flagged for this reason, and I put in an appeal. The appeal went up, and they had their team personally review the thumbnail and come to the decision that it was indeed perfectly acceptable for a thumbnail :)
So...

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, it was one hell of a month lol. Probably did more learning, testing, and tutorialing than any month in the history of this channel. I'm more familiar with Kinect now than my phone at this point - We still have 2 or 3 videos left to wrap up our Kinect adventure. But, the most important thing I've learned from this is how to create mo-cap rigs that can easily absorb new animations! You guys are gonna love what we've got in store for the mo-cap suit and Rokoko next mon...

Just in case it wasn't clear, I've modified the Kinect rig to plant it's feet on ground level. If you are using an IK rig, just make sure your IK handle bone is in the same position as the Kinect feet bone. If you're using FK instead, then you're just getting rotation data so it shouldn't affect you. Also, DO NOT change the roll of any of the Kinect bones!!! You can move them, but if you change the roll, you destroy the original animation data-! Hope that helps :)

So, I've been doing a lot of polling, discussing, and planning for future. As, you guys have probably heard, the gloves for the motion capture suit will be arriving within the next few months. This will be the first time I've had access to a full body mocap set-up that includes hands.
You guys have probably noticed by now, but human animation is my favorite part of 3D. It's the part I feel the most fun doing, and it's the one thing I would like to strive to perfect over the years. It'...

Looks like Rokoko finally finished the gloves! Our suit is one of the original from the crowd-funding 5 years ago, and my friend not only bought the suit, she also apparently bought the gloves. I've been informed that the gloves will be mailed to me over the next two months :)
I never thought the hands would be finished this year. But, it looks like I might be able to make a rig for you guys that includes hand motions!
Hope you're excited as I am! Thought you'd like to hear the good...

So, very long time ago, my best friend gave me a Rokoko Motion Capture suit as a gift before she graduated and left to a different state. I wasn't originally planning to demonstrate it because it's not mo-cap that I thought anyone could afford. (I definitely could never have afforded it if she didn't give it to me). But, I do have it. The Kinect motion capture series seems to be a lot of fun for people, so I wanted to ask if you guys wanted to extend the animation series a few more vide...
