Well, we got a FULL plate this month. I will do my absolute best to cover everything here on the list. I've learned more information in the last 7 days than I've ever learned about anything else in my entire life. It's a lot to take in, but I've done my best to plan out the tutorials in the most logical way I could think of.
I'll also be sharing my thoughts and take on what Kinect should be best used for and what type of animations I'd recommend using it for. I'll also be doing a comp...

So, today I built a rig designed SPECIFICALLY for Kinect animations. It's sole purpose is to take raw kinect data, and guess what the animations are supposed to look like, and to reduce the amount of manual clean-up you actually have to do. And, it's surprisingly good at doing it to-
I've learned ALOT about Kinect, it's pros, cons, and limitations in the past few days. I'll be sharing everything I've found in the upcoming "Kinect Series" tutorials. For those of you who are eager to kno...

Well, we actually hit just about all our goals this month. We've covered everything I wanted to put in place for those who needed a quick pointer on exporting animations from Blender > Unity, and now we are returning to Blender to finish the Animation series with Mo-Cap as promised- !
All of the hardware made it to my doorstep, AND all the software is also now in order :) As soon as I redesign my rig to easily transfer data from Kinect to any character, I'll be sure to start uploadi...

Took forever for the new Kinect to arrive, BUT totally worth it!!! Not only did I get the hang of how to record the raw animation, I also figured out a super fast and easy way to get the data from Kinect to Blender. We're in business people! And, I'm really excited to share what I've found out over the next 2 weeks!!!
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know, mo-cap tutorials are now in the works :)

Hey guys :) This update is a little different from usual. First, I got a refund on the faulty Kinect Sensor, and with it, I've just finished placing the order on a New Kinect sensor straight from Microsoft. But, since it's directly from Microsoft, it looks like it will be a few days before it arrives at my place.
Since, I'd like to redirect the channel towards Blender and mocap, I wont be uploading any more videos until the Kinect arrives and I make some findings I'd like to share. Th...

So, we had a few setbacks. Everything arrived, and I got everything installed quite painlessly. However, once I plugged in the Kinect, it kept disconnecting every 4-5 seconds. I restarted my machine and tinkered with a few things, but it looks like the Kinect sensor had a damaged cable. I was able to find a sweet spot and get it to work by literally holding the cable into the sensor at a certain angle, and got it to work for about 60 seconds before my hand got tired.
To be fair,...

So! Amazon says that the parts should arrive tomorrow! I'll immediately begin tinkering with it, and documenting step by step how I got everything to work (Fingers crossed for everything to go smooth lol). On the flip side, what type of Animations would you like me to test out first??

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to let let you all know that we'll only be covering Unity for another 4 - 7 days. I know a lot of you specifically want to see more Blender stuff, and are worried we left Blender forever.
Truth is, there weren't a lot of Unity Animation programming tutorials, and for those people who really needed it, I wanted to make sure they at least had a small series to look back to in case they had an urgent project.
I'm actually, in the process of working on t...

For those of you that wanted to see what some of the Animation code looked like, I did my best to sum it up for you in an example file. Disclaimer: This is not an engine, it's a micro example of the code and how it's called to influence animation. Feel free to learn, use, ignore, or improve on it however you'd like :)

So, we're approaching the Kinect mocap tutorial series. We'll be heading into it as soon as I've finished setting up the most important aspects of our game engine in Unity. But, I like to plan things a little early, and I wanted to ask, what are things you are hoping learn from our test with Kinect?

Originally I planned an NLA export tutorial. But, the results for my file keep coming up so mixed, I don't feel confident in recommending it as a reliable tutorial. So, after some consideration. I've decided we'll be going straight to the Unity Animation Splitting and control tutorials next. The last two FBX methods work very well, all things considered, so we'll be going directly to some quick animation coding.
It's a little different from the plan, so I thought it was importan...

OK! We got a lot of work to do, but I think we'll be able to get to most of it. As soon as I cover the basics for animation transfer and control in Unity, we'll be tackling Kinect, and make our way to the Blender modeling series.
I'm super excited to finally get to this stuff, now that we've got the grunt work out the way. I've already started working on the next video, so if all goes well, I'll see you soon tomorrow!
Alright, let's do this- !

Once we export from Blender to Unity, it's a lot harder to make adjustments to the character, so I'm spending one last night making any final adjustments before exporting everything for sure.
A long time ago, I added claws to Exa because I thought in close combat it would be a cool extra feature. She has a VERY aggressive and sort of primal savage fighting style, so I thought it might be a nice touch, but, I'm not sure if it's a bit too much.
What do you guys think? Do you like ...

ALRIGHT! It was one hell of a month. We pumped out 17 videos in one month this time lol. Took a bite out of my sleep schedule to do it, but I'm really happy we essentially finished everything I wanted to cover for Animation- Kinect Mocap tutorials are now in bound and I'm working on planning those out -!
ALSO!!! I believe we solved our Export problem. A fantastic dude on YouTube sent a solution to me, and so far It has worked very well :) Which means we're in business, and as soon as I...

So, last poll I asked you guys if we covered most of the things you wanted to see in the Animation Tutorial Series. I was happy to see that many of you looked pretty content with the list. So I spent the day trying a few different techniques in preparat...
