A pretty fun commission - a follow up of an earlier one, in which an artist commissioned me to draw two animal muses of her and her best man. Her muse was a constantly sleeping dormouse with rainbow wings; his was a Great Dane puppy constantly jumping at everything. (I'll upload that one in a bit!) Now, the original client (the one with the dormouse) is getting married, and her mother has secretly commissioned me to draw her dor-muse with a tiger representing her husband.

So, in a newly released SW novel, we learn that, just a few years before TFA, Luke was looking for the first Jedi temple with his nephew Ben in tow. And here we all thought Luke had been missing, and Ben Kylo, for a decade. While I still love his idea. there are two great problems with this piece - the first is that nobody, not one, viewer at the Tolkien Tage realised that the dragon is sleeping in the earth - that concept needs refining.
The other problem is that another visitor identified the tale - as coming from "The Mists of Avalon", which explains where my mother got it from. I have a problem with MZB, so I'm not sure if I'll carry this further. If I do, the setup will have to be clearer anyway. I...

Cons are pretty much the only times I do totally traditional sketching, and thumbnailing. Which definitely is nice once in a while.

Had a great first day at Tolkien Tage, a Tolkien fair/con/thing in Western Germany. Saw almost nothing of the kids until the evening, and then had to look twice as they were so dirty.
