May the Feels be with you...

Learning to fly, final version. Watercolour and white gouache on Clairefontaine Etival, 25x35cm.

Just love how this one turned out. Though fixing the scan took nearly as long as the painting. O_o

Learning to fly - next wip

This is getting more and more heartbreaking...

Back with my good Etival paper. After the Arches I was working with on the con, and the crappy watercolour paper in my sketchbook, it feels like comfy slippers after a weekend in high heels.

Or rather, I imagine it feels like that, never having spent a weekend in high heels. ;)

(Incidentally, do you get two notification emails when I edit a new post? If you do, I promise I'll spell-check more properly from now on!)

Thank you, you wonderful people!

It's been a year and a day since I started on Patreon - and a fair portion of you have been with me for just as long! For those of you, but also for the newcomers, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! You are terrific. Each of you is helping out a little, and some a little more, so that I my life stays full of creativity and inspiration. You are responsible for some of the best artworks I have created last year, which make me equally proud and insanely happy.

High King Fingon

A little piece I drew and painted at my booth today (yay Nomad!), and then gilded at home. I hate hate hate this paper, but I love how this piece turned out. I'm going to see if I can sell it tomorrow; any takers here before I do? I put it at 120 €. It's A5 size. 23 carat gold. :) Edit: Sold! :)

Learning to fly - Lineart

Okay, HobbitCon is a BLAST of a time. I'll be at my booth again tomorrow, and have now spent two days selling out. Every evening, for two days, I pretty much pushed past my hubby and headed straight for my printer to reprint Smaugs, Ben and Reys, and the Art Nouveau piece! I've never sold more than three copies of the same print on a con weekend, and now I've sold about four to five of those each day.  I've sold about sixty prints since Friday. O_o

Today, Billy Bo...

(Can't post pics from my tablet for some reason. Sorry for the empty post earlier.)

The Con is great! I'm doing extremely well (Star Wars is, too) and had the presence of mind to bring a little LED lamp to be able to draw at my booth. Hope to have booth pics tomorrow, too!

Here's where I'm at with the latest piece!

HobbitCon

I'll be at HobbitCon in Bonn over the weekend, so the raffle, and the goodies, will have to wait until next week! =) Hope I'll be back with some new stuff then, too.  And I'll break in my brand new NOMAD art satchel. <3

Seeya then!

Guppy love

Guppies are done! <3

My scanner struggled with the colours, Badly. It looks much softer in real life, but it scanned rather muddy so I had to punch up the contrast. It's not a colour scheme I fix on a regular basis, either. XD It's actual size - that thing was tiny!

Hope you like it, Is!  ^^

"He would have disappointed you."

Very quick sketch for a commission of Kylo Ren in the Falcon's cockpit, remembering his father teaching him to fly. Or just taking him along.

I have a commission of this, of guppy mermaids, and of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. I love, love, love my life. ^_______^

And they call it...

...Guppy love. *falls over*

I love that guppy girl. ^^

Kept the lineart fairly un-detailed,  because I'm going to do most of the detail here with paint. Should be fun!

Hobbits wear plaid

... definitely.

Here's Sam Gamgee with a cute plaid scarf. ^__^

Mmmm. More fun paper. This one's excellent for vibrant washes!

Samwise Gamgee

And a second hobbit - after the first one turned out so personal that I can't really give her away! I hope you like him, Kimmie! To be coloured, too. ^^

Drawn over Easter lunch with the in-laws. Post-lunch, actually, while my hubby, my daughter (the hobbit) and my brother in law and his girlfriend were playing a ridiculously complicated and quite hilarious early nineties electronic game called "The Omega Virus".

Okay. I dare say Star Wars has bumped up my realistic painting skills quite a notch. O_o

She really, really is that sweet.

Even when she doesn't tidy her room. It's so hard to be angry with her. Her room shows it. XD

Smaug - Watercolour and gold leaf

Narrated vid again! This took a little longer - narrated video means I need to be alone for about an hour, which is near well impossible while the kids are home all day during the holidays. So this morning, I took advantage of the fact that the good, catholic three quarters of this family were on crusade - sorry, doing the stations of the cross - and heretical me sat down to narrate a dragon video. It was a very Homer Simpson sort of moment. I regret nothing.

I'm not sure the world is ready for this, but...

... I give you: guppy merfolk!

Guppy merfolk have been on my mind for ten years now. I did some sketches of them in various sketchbooks over the years, but none of those was ever turned into anything halfway presentable.  Now I've spent a week or two bouncing ideas back and forth with Isabella, who wanted something for a "bubbly" frame she had - and guppy merfolk sort of suggested themselves.

These are so much fun. And also took a lot of toning down. I mea...

March prompt: Hobbit maiden

Prompt for Kimmie, who requested a Hobbit. From there, my mind went to my absolute yearning for Spring right now, and to a photo I took of my daughter last May. That girl IS a hobbit. She may want to be a unicorn, but she's totally a hobbit.

An unusual approach for me - starting with a fairly uniform golden wash before I work out the details in scales and treasure. I'm recording this; planning to make it a tutorial vid! :)

Smaug - lineart

Scribbling a fantastillion gold coins is easy. Not sure about the painting bit. XD

I like how he did turn out different from the many, many iconic Smaugs from various great artists. I made sure not to look at any other Smaugs until this evening.
