Early Scene 🌊The Grandfather Chair

Had this scene idea a few nights ago and something came over me last night to draw it. I'm glad I did!!! The whole set took about 4 hours. Used a tombow watercolor marker and black colored pencil for most of it, all on toned gray paper.

It was a pinch too big for my scanner which is why it's cropped! Had to cut it up T_T

Working on what leads up to this scene, but if it makes the final cut, these will be the pages I use! Gotta edit a few scuffs in Sai before that, but thankfully nobody's face looks too messed up!

Minicomic - Beat & Brad's Snow Day

It snowed today so I thought I'd make a little something!! :^}c also gotta work on Beat and Brad's dialogue styles.

New year! Paused billing for the month :^)

Just a quick update! I didn't feel satisfied with the amount of stuff I've shared this month, and I know holidays are a time of tight cash for nearly everybody. I decided to pause January's billing cycle, everything'll be back to normal for February. Hoping for 2022 to yield some good stuff!!

Sun Sprain release promo in progress

ummm guess who's animating again!!!!!!!!!! :^}}}}

this will be a small gently-animated promo "poster" for Sun Sprain!!! Beat will be in his fully-sprained form here, coated in sun, and his eye will open with some text around. I'm planning for some nice effects in the background too, some nice warm soothing sunlight, the goods. 

I don't have a define release date for Sun Sprain yet, I think with this one I'm going to have a longer period of working on it before saying when it'll be done. BUT i'm getting a lot closer to figuring out the flavors of the story n everything. 

I know Sun Sprain is a pretty bit of a jump from my other comics, especially Miniboss, but I want it to be a nice blend of the old and the new. Last thing I want to make is a boring story. I hope you all like it as it starts to manifest itself into the world T_T! <3

Comic Tribute progress - 10 hours in

GETTIN BACK TO THIS! Spent 2 hours tonight chipping away :^}c the big middle section is done, and I'm heading up to the Miniboss section. Beta was first since he's my favorite UoU

Predicting I'm about 1/3rd finished with this x__x but I think the rest of the time will be more exciting for me - that middle section has a lot of human characters... I love em but... snore!

Comic "business card" for ANW 2021

Somethin a little different but a comic nonetheless n_n in 2019 at my first convention I took active place in I made a comic business card for my booth. I decided to keep it as a lil "tradition", does it count as a tradition if it's only been twice???

Comic Tribute progress - 8 hrs in

4 hours more (total of 8) and this is what I've got. Looks like this could take all of November!!!!
I've been recording more speedpaint progress as I go and I'll continue ;^}
At this rate I'm expecting upwards of 18-20 more hours of work.

Testing out unconventional ways to design my comic pages >:^} happiest with the stars effect, possibly with a minor debut in Henry MacArthur but DEFINITELY used in Heartache NGC 6205!

🌟 - black paper on top of 2 layers of bubble wrap poked with multiple pinheads on a lightboard.

🌊The 2nd one I need to work on a bit more. Not quite happy with it. Tried colored pencil and watercolor on tracing paper for a backlit look but it just ends up kinda sloppy! I might try character cutouts with that one for a "foggy background" effect with good backlighting. Wee!

Beat & Brad - more art

Some late-night sketches of these two as I work on their story more >:^}

Beat's sun bleaching gets worse and worse the longer he stays still. This is especially apparent after sleeping - his body gets very stiff as well as losing his color. If he oversleeps, Brad usually has to help his muscles wake up - bouncing and pushing his limbs, rubbing his face and back, the works. 

Beat usually avoids sleeping, but sometimes he's too exhausted to force himself awake.
Brad has a harder time coping than he lets on, but he tries his best to balance caring for them as well as himself.

Short story drafting... weowoo!!!

Here we go again!!!!!!! Inspired by the rage that fills my bloodstream at the fact that there's too many "gay" stories out there that don't actually end up being gay........ TO HELL WITH IT! I demand MLM lovers!

This story is still in progress, I haven't come up with much quite yet, but this is likely to be filled with plenty of vibes and complicated emotions (oh, the drama!!!!)

If anything, the drafting is some good practice >:^}

Exciting news! Found pieces!

A few weeks ago I went back home for a few days, and I searched for the final draft Thrift Island thumbnail sketches a pile of sketchbooks I'd gutted and was slated to burn if not for covid preventing me from getting down to the beach firepits last year.

Turns out... I found a LOT more than i was looking for!!
Stuff from many stories was sitting in there wasting away - in my 2020 clean-out-the-old fever I tossed them. I'm so grateful they weren't destroyed!!!!! >:"^{
I'll take photos of them all and upload them to Kelda's Cove this weekend! Keep yer eyes out - in another timeline all these drawings have been lost to time!

Hello there!! I'm thinking a lot of how to make my Patreon a nicer place for you and myself at the same time and I'd love to hear some of your thoughts >:"^| <3

I'll get right to it!

I want my Patreon to be here for accountability on my behalf and a sort of tip jar with perks that feel worth it on yours. I think I need to amp up the "good stuff" and cut out some of the fluff that gets in the way of the comics, which is what this Patreon is about in the first place!

✨✨✨As for the tiers themselves here's what I'm considering!

✨I still want my $3 to have everything. "Everything" including WIPS/lore/updates, thank-you pages, & early reads just like I've been doing, but there may not be much consistency to them. Updates come when they come.
AND
I want to redo my Toyhouse thing since access keys are SUCH a hassle - they get lost, they get unorganized, it's hard to re-access characters, it's all a mess!!! So I thought it'd be a better idea to make a separate Toyhouse account for a comic vault!
A comic vault you say? I do! A page where Patron's Toyhouse accounts are given authorization to see the stories and characters that are hibernating or that never made it. Sort of a peek into my back-catalog of stories that will fill over time. Most ideas never make it, and one of the questions I get asked the most about my stories is if I had any ideas I almost went with. Here'd be where you could see them all!

I also want to include a few extra tiers. A $5 and a $10 tier with the same rewards (plus some priority in the thank-you page) mostly as a way to add a tip to your pledge if you want. Many of you have been so generous to support me and what I do, so I want to give the option but not add too much pressure!

🌊Test scene - Delmar meets Henry

Watching Luca did some good for me in the sea beast zone >:^} this is a continuation of a scene I shared earlier - Kintal takes Henry and the other stranded sea beasts at the lighthouse to Delmar's secret island where sea beasts can hide in safety. Henry caught a glimpse of Delmar under the water, but overall has no idea who he is or what he's with sea beasts for.
The expressions hold a lot for me in this page! It was a lot of work to get them just right. I tried to go for a deep recognition, not like seeing someone for the second time but seeing something in someone that you know about yourself. This story has lots of non-binary / transitional metaphor in it and I wanted to get that across in this look of two "sea beast humans" seeing each other.

🌈Mid-May check in

Hello there, Patronz! Apologies for the quietness, I’ve been up to a lot of tricky mental roadblocks and such that relate a lot to my comics. I’m very happy to be slowly grinding out some new pieces though, it’s been good to exercise my comic muscles with some genuine practice.

As for the other bits, I’ve been realizing a lot as to why comics have been harder for me to make the past few years as opposed to when I was younger, and I’ve reflected on it lots.

Aside from the responsibilities that come in general with being an adult plus the entire lockdown (which has totally contributed to some of this struggle), I’ve noticed a lot of it has to do with the years I was communicating with the person who would go on to be my abuser. I realize now that the stress I had to endure through being told my love for my comics wasn’t good to have, or something to just dismiss, has stuck with me and made everything I’ve made from the years 2013-2020 feel heavy with pain and stress, and it makes it very hard to pick up my pen and get working again, even though I’d very much like to!

I’m considering making a small minicomic detailing some of this and getting into these feelings, definitely with some good humor and funny visuals. I know a big part of healing for me is going to include just as much focus on loving my past self as loving what I am today. Just gotta get to work, ya know? :^}
