Finally one a little early for a change! Thanks for your support.
In this week's After Effects tutorial, we explore Nodebox again! If you're unfamiliar with Nodebox and you missed Tutorial 167, go check it out. Last time we made an FUI-style element with random data. This week, we bring in CSV data.
I used an app on my iP...

In this week's Cinema 4D tutorial, we're exploring how to use fields and vertex maps to break up a dissolve to reveal geometry. We build the fields in the vertex map and then use that to drive the animation of a fracture object with a plain effector.

Hi guys! Sorry this one is up late, but it's still earlier for you! We had a big week of work, and the time it looked like Sev was going to have to make a tutorial disappeared on us, so I made this one today. I'll probably do another Nodebox tutorial next as well. I have made some interesting things in it so far.
In this week's After Effects tutorial, we explore Nodebox instead. Nodebox is a free node-based application tha...

Hi! Guys. We've been doing a good amount of work this week, and some of it has been taking longer than expected. Neither of us had time to work on a tutorial this week, and we burned our queue a couple of weeks ago. It was looking like we were going to have a day or so this week, but a company completely switched direction on something and it wasn't going to work out. And through all of that we've both been sick, so that's been a blast too. It's been a tough week, guys.
Anyway, either S...

Hi guys! This month we have our standard elements and some interesting project files for you. There's a C4D setup for destruction, and there are setups for a program called Nodebox which is free on all OS platforms. I think we'll be doing a tutorial on it soon, but for now check it out. Some of the elements from this month were built using it. Grab your elements 2019-03-09 02:43:11 +0000 UTC

Here are some lengthly BTS videos of my process for creating a map node where lines grow from a center towards a point. This was research for one of my Keyframes sessions, that I didn't end up using. Still, the process itself is interesting. It's pretty expression-heavy.

Hi guys! Got this one up a little early for you. It's short but it should be useful. Thanks!
In this week's After Effects tutorial, we explore an old effect—Wave World. The last time I used this effect, I was watching Total Training DVDs from Brian Maffitt in like 2005.
Today, I was trying to do something else, and I accidentally clicked on Wave World. I had forgotten it has a 3D preview of the waves. So...

Hi guys! I have some interesting BTS content coming up for $5+ patrons but I haven't had a moment to set it all up since I've been prepping for Keyframes. But now I've done my sessions and I'm back home and ready to get to those as soon as I can, so keep an eye out!
We just got back from Keyframes Conference so we're going to explore a little bit of what we talked about there. We'll take a look at how to set up ...

Sorry for the delay on this one. I had to have Sev get this one out this week so I'd have time to prep for Keyframes, and we were both already busy. I still have my work cut out for me. But fear not if you happen to be coming! I will be prepared. And if you do make it to Keyframes, come say hi!
In this week's Cinema 4D tutorial, we're going to take some techniques we've recently explored and use them to make an impactful logo reveal. If you need a refresher, check out how we made

We will use X-particles to created the smoke and then finish it by rendering it in Redshift.

Hi guys, as you probably know, I'm speaking at Keyframes this month so I'm doing my research for my talks. I made something cool yesterday that I wish I had recorded, so I decided to record a little bit today. While I didn't come up with something as cool, I think I came up with some interesting things that might spark your imagination. Expect more videos like this to come your way. For those asking about any of my processes, this goes through some of that.
I intended to record a bit at...

Hi guys! I recorded this one a little bit ago, and I was hoping to get it out to you earlier. After editing it, I came down with some stomach bug that has ravaged our household. So, I finally started to feel better and finished it up. A lot of the work in the tutorial is getting all of it ready to post and getting it out there. Anyway, thanks for your support!
I was asked, a while ago, to look into time shifting based on audio. So in this week's After Effects tutorial, we use audio ampl...

I was able to get this one out today because we're waiting on a few of our clients for various parts of our jobs, so I took advantage of the time to get this one out early for you guys! Hopefully one day we'll be able to do this more consistently as Workbench grows! Thanks for your support as always!
This week, we look at a technique for splitting up parts of a precomp using a luma matte. This basically makes a puzzle out of it which allows us to animate each section step by step to pro...

Hi guys! If you're already a $5+ patron, you'll already know this, but if not this is for you.
We've just made some changes to include some additional content for $5+ tiers. Sev's been thinking of additional content that we can offer, and one of those things we've been thinking of is figuring out a way to show more of our collaborative process with regards to how we build things for Workbench.
Yesterday, Sev suggested that we record the process I was going through to make th...

Hi guys! Sev had a great idea yesterday while I was helping to composite the thumbnail and example videos for the tutorial. People often ask about how we go about building things like this, and it seems like that would make some great content for you guys and perhaps be a decent draw for new patrons. So check it out here.
This is content that wouldn't fit the general Workbench tutorial style—it's more meandering and ...

Sev's had a lot to deal with over the past few weeks, including me on a roadtrip, so our last two tutorials were out later than we hoped. But I'm back, and I had some time over the weekend to get this one out! I also kind of have to because 2019 us starting off like 2018 ended—busy. I'll also be beginning prep for my sessions at the Keyframes Conference in Orlando. I should have a code for that for you all soon if you'll want to join in!
