stone hallway

so, back to unreal. wanted to figure why the last "hall romper (animation)" render took so long once i raised the quality setting, so made a way more simplistic hallway, with only one material applied to it. now i know how to set it up but also know that putting a lot of reflecting surfaces on top of each other is not a good idea. you can see it really good in the wide shots i uploaded. maybe thats a better idea to do that with real raytracing

in the top menu go to "3d garment" -> "attach all pins to avatar"
load in your character as a morph target.
remove all pins from the scene, and simulate to let the garment settle in place.

if you want the collar to stand up more, then just make the tack length longer. (see second picture in this post)

wanted to upload this yesterday, but my internet died, so here it is today.

anyways, did you know you can use animation layers inside daz using aniamte2? this is done with 3 layers, i got the main motion on layer 1, expressions on layer 2 and a blinking eyes on layer 3. this opens up so many possibilities!

pushing things to far

unreal broke my vram!!! my poor old gpu couldnt really handle the first settings i tried and it broke the whole calculation.

tried to re-render the hallway scene yesterday night. since i figured out how to fix the light bleeding and so i thought i give it a try to see what it would look like. well, i started to bake the lighting before i went to bed, when i woke up, 7 hours later, it was still working on the first pass and had done about 10%. just so you know, unreal works with two pass...

still a problem/ solved

in the last animation, if you look at the hair it has some weird effects on it. i get what is happening now, but no idea how to solve it yet. if i put saphy out of focus on the camera, the translucent/masked materials dont get any dof/ blurriness calculated on them. so hair, lashes and eye reflection, which are all having a masked applied to it, are in focus which they shouldnt be.


update: unreal has so many menus to go through. even the menus have their own menus so finding ...

fixed light bleeding

last animation i had a lot of trouble with light bleeding and artifacts. so i found the solution on how to fix it all. now we got a nice clean result without any weird effects on it.

aniMate2

fbx exports were pissing me off cause of the weird results it gives on bending on limbs and well, everything that rotates. so i got aniMate2 for daz which lets you export a vertex cloud which means you get what you see right out of daz. now daz has this nice system were it holds everything in the right place and now we can have that in any animation we make.

just look at the big difference on the shoulders it gives, but there is downside to this workflow as well. since its a vertex anim...

floor contact

if you wanna have a believable animation you will have to have your character's feet hit the ground properly. if its off the animation will suck. see all vids below this one!

when using motion capture there is always things you need to fix, like feet and head to remove weird wiggles and noise from the captured data, move the feet to the right position without messing up the knees and everything above it. and so on.

rotation problem unreal

ok, so fixed the problem with the clothing from marvelous designer. there is no delays, no poke throughs, fits perfectly and animates really great. so i figured, lets try a spinning animation with a dress, right?! well, you know how things are, if you fix one thing there is always an other thing that wont work.
