Lance's Post-Xmas Update

Good evening you lot!
I have some good news! Lance is doing well and has regained the use of his rear legs(ish), It's an Xmas miracle!
Details are within the video.
We've got a long road to recovery ahead of us, this is not a "job done" kind of thing.
But he's making good progress everyday but there is still a chance he's going to need some veterinary support, for now we're just taking it one day at a time, but most importantly he's his usual happy self again.

December Message

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry for having to give you this message instead of the intended last video of 2023 & I'm sorry this message isn't filled with holiday cheer, but a few days ago Lance had an accident.
The details of that are within the video, but this was recorded 2 days ago, and in that time Lance is making some progress, most notably going to the toilet again which was a huge concern. I've never celebrated a turd so hard. 🎉

Making Ep.10

This week I'm bringing you behind the curtain and into a very warm editing session.
Whilst Episode 10 of the Sweden series was being made I also had the camera out to show you a typical day (or 4) of putting these video's together.

Lé shit house

In this week's video we create a place to poop. 😊
Even before Sweden I wanted to build a Shrek style outhouse, but there's now doubt the finished product was highly influenced by that trip.
It's another job that's been in our project book since we bought the place and now it is time to make it a reality. Time was tight as more friends were on their way, and these guys are not van dwellers or campers, so their needs must be met too.

Aftermath

2 weeks on from the fire we were still coming to grips with the madness.
Now we were "back to normal" but had to drive through the wasteland most days, and the slightest whiff of smoke has us on edge.
I take a look around and some places we've been before that are quite different now.
and we have a guest in the biggest "van" setup to date.

It finally happened!

We have some actual machinery on the land doing ground work instead of us attempting to shift it by hand.

Don’t get me wrong, I quite liked the manual labour we did, beats staring at a gym wall doing the same thing.

But progess was slow and we needed a bigger turning circle for the vans like last year.

It started out as a normal day, busy tinkering with projects, contently enjoying our seclusion in the woods but within minutes that day turned to chaos.

A wild fire broke out near to us and rapidly grew to become the biggest fire in portugal for 2023.

33. The Return Home... or lack there of.

Hello all!

It's time to leave the snow and ice and get back to the scorch!
There was a slight lack of footage going home.
In my mind I had a whole series in the bag/hard drive so was out of work mode and in get home mode.

But we made it back, enjoyed a bit of R&R then got back to all of the many many jobs in our project list.

Escanevada update

We start the day in a much more positive light, travel upwards into the snowy (& windy) mountains. See Sweden's largest waterfall. Then spend an entire day sloshing through mud and forest tracks in hunt for the perfect park up... things, as always, go sideways.

The Fire of '23

Ok it's been a just over a week now since the huge wildfire tore through our valley, the dust and ash has settled and we've started to get back to normal life.

I've took a look over some of the footage I got (mostly shaky phone unfortunately) to watch the chilling few days back since we were living it.

Departure - BROKEN DOWN: Ep.9

Excuse the delay, we've had our hands full this week.

A wildfire broke out and within a few hours had torn through our valley and over the mountain. The whole area has been devastated.

I'll save the details for when I get around to that video as it's all still very fresh, but we are all fine, the Bombeiros did an incredible job over 4 days to tackle the fire and by nothing short of a miracle it missed us by metres. Very happy to have houses that move atm... 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just as we thought the snow was about to disappear a storm rolled in and peppered us in a fresh coat of the white stuff. I get the full "Attenborough" during the morning coffee. We stumble across some abandonment on a dog walk. I begin to find a better life balance, and we revive Lockdown Camp Am-Bol-East's heart and soul.

A local Beaver took down another tree, so we head out to go "clean it up". We venture out onto the frozen lake again to have a beer. I question work, my creativity and life in general, but that's ok because that night had something more important in store.

I've had to switch projects this week as I am now 2 weeks late on delivering an ad collab I agreed to do with Cyrusher E-bikes.
I know I know, soul sold! 😱 But I was legit looking at E-bikes before they got in touch (well 2 companies emailed but one was pushy and rude so they got the 🖕🏻) so I agreed to do a collaboration with them.
