Once again this was supposed to be a bit of a simpler video, but eh. Length happens. It was my first PDA back in the day so I had a lot to revisit!

It's finally been re-released and works nicely on modern PCs, so it's as good a time as any to take a look back at the original release!

So this is pretty much a Toshiba T1000 laptop with a weird lightgun. And not THAT kind of lightgun, but more like a gun that shoots light. At your face.

It's a portable computer, of sorts? More of a pocket organizer that hastily took on the form of a laptop. And runs on AA batteries. And came from Turkey. Yeah this is an odd one, haha.

Another new old stock IBM for your enjoyment! This is just the unboxing and demonstration of the software it came with, but I've got more planned involving this and its Model 30 sibling once I get that restored.

Seems that "Create Music" has placed a copyright claim on this. For having a few seconds of the game's highly compressed menu music.
Appealed, they refused to lift. So I've unlisted the video for the time being. This is a manual claim not content ID, so someone went out of their way to make the claim.

Just a bit of a ramble on the topic of edutainment, why I do edutainment month, and what makes these games and programs so appealing. While playing a version of The Oregon Trail I haven't messed with in many years!

Aw yeah, time to kick off another month of edutainment videos! First up is this classic from MECC and Novotrade for MS-DOS PCs.

The transforming keyboard mechanism here is the stuff of legend, super excited to get this video out there finally. Shame that they only used it on the 701, but as you'll see in the video it makes sense why it didn't last.
Big thanks to Sam for letting me borrow this unit for the video! Wasn't sure I'd ever get my hands one of these since they're such costly and sought-after collector's items.

This shareware title has been effectively "lost" for over twenty years, if my research is any indication. I'll be uploading the CD-ROM to archive.org once this goes public, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy the video!

I really like this little thing, even though it was more or less a complete flop on the market. Tiny disks, yay!

Long before IBM made notebook computers, they made actual notebooks. These were pads with the word "THINK" printed on it, making it a literal "think pad." And these pads ended up being direct inspiration for the later ThinkPad machines in terms of naming, too!

Now here's a little beast I've wanted to talk about for ages! Finally got a boxed one on eBay a little while ago and made the time to really dive into it, and yeah: I can see why it's one of the worst-selling handheld games consoles of all time. But I also really enjoy messing around with it regardless.
Also, now that I'm diving into the Palm OS environment for the first time (I was always into PocketPC in the past) I already have another device or two from that ecosystem to cover on LGR....

Hadn't planned to do this video for a while yet, but after another half-dozen projects crapped themselves due to old hardware being old hardware and failing... well, here it is! I'd actually planned to cover the earlier Mavica cameras before the Digital FD Mavicas since I find those a bit more unusual, but I have yet to get one that works (like the MVC-C1 shown in this episode.)
I've had a surprising number of folks asking me to cover these cameras, even though I personally figured there ...

Soon as I saw this sitting on the shelf at a local Target I knew I had to review it. This is essentially the MS-DOS version of The Oregon Trail tucked into a little Macintosh-looking machine the size of a chubby Game Boy Color. And it's only $25 (if you can find one!)

Wanted to revisit this one for a very long time now. Feeling satisfied with it, lemme know what you think!
The idea is to use this format to take a similar look back at the first half-dozen NFS games in detail. They just hold so many memories for me and I think they're worth checking out still, even if the series is kinda not great these days.

EDIT: video was updated significantly with new information, new scenes, clarified language, and more technical stuff. Enjoy!
I should've expected this would turn out to be a lot more involved than originally planned. But I kept having fun messing around with and filming this legendary machine!
Attempted to combined everyone's requests into one beefy episode: history, overview, demonstration, cleaning, restoration, upgrading etc. I'm also quite happy to have waited to do this until ...
