January 2022 Previews: "They Came from the Stars"

A very Happy Holidays to all of you!

We will kick off 2022 with a bit of a Starspawn theme and run that into February and probably March (possibly mixing in some aquatic stuff / Dagon / etc.) For January we have:

1. Cultists of the Fallen Star : 3 variants, including one with a bizarre headdress

2. Starspawn Hulk - inspired by the DnD Starspawn Hulk, but with my own twist on the design.

3.  Starspawn Mangler - inspired by the DnD Mangler, but with my own take on the design.

4. Starspawn Duster - an original little Starspawn that should have a variety of uses.

5. Aspects of Mul-Sahar - these serpents bear the masks of the Cult and are spawned when a cultist fuses with the Dust of the fallen comet that they worship.

6. Mul-Sahar: Scion of the Cosmos. 100mm cosmic horror, the serpent Aspects fit into its body to form a three-headed creature

I hope you all enjoy and find these useful! I got so much inspiration from the Patron poll / chat and am excited to stick with the Starspawn for a bit and explore their various manifestations!

Painted Dark Young by Mr.Minichicks

Received these gorgeous images yesterday of some Dark Young from this month's bundle and had to share.

They are painted by Mr.Minichicks (check him out on Instagram) and I am completely mesmerized by their Synthwave color palette and bioluminescent feel. What do you think?

2022 and Beyond....

Hey everyone, for the upcoming months, I'd like you to choose which of these three Outer Gods you'd like me to explore as themes.

Also, please comment with requests and ideas. Wanna see more Bloodborne type stuff? Things inspired by Eldrazi? Bizarre dragons or more Junji Ito inspired sculpts?

I would like to collect some feedback and requests and possibly put together a mixed-bag lineup one month following and incorporating as many requests as I can!

DECEMBER Full Lineup - The Dark Mother

Hello all - 

I'm excited to share with you all the lineup for December, featuring HP Lovecraft's corrupt fertility deity, Shub-Niggurath: The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young!

Shub herself is actually 3 models linked together. These are:

1. The Fertile Mist (some descriptions of Shub describe her as such)

2. The Spawning Maw (can be arranged horizontally or vertically)

3. Shub-Niggurath's Beast, 102mm tall, which spawns from the Spawning Maw

These three models can be linked or arranged together to form an avatar of The Dark Mother herself. You can have fun on the tabletop by throwing down just one part (the Maw, for example) and then building it out with the Fertile Mist and then finally the Beast section for a multi-phase boss fight. Or, you can use the models separately for your own purposes. The Beast comes with an optional stinger tail should you wish to employ it on its own, and the rather phallic upper head (it is a fertility deity, people) is optional as seen in the photos.

To round out the lineup, there's also a set of 4 Dark Young and some bases to accompany them:

7. Mature Dark Young

8. 5 bases, regular / large size

I may have one more model for you all, coming a bit later, just depending on time juggling with the Kickstarter and my performing job.

I hope you all dig the designs - it's always my goal to reinterpret and redesign some of the classic Cthulhu Mythos deities in a way that feels fresh but true to that cosmic horror intention.

VoidRealms UPDATES: 5e Adventure, KS, November!

Hello everyone!

Some exciting announcements near the end of the month here:

1. The Curse of the Spirals campaign has less than 24 hours left on Kickstarter. If you haven't backed yet now's a great time to help make that final push and unlock even more stretch goals with your pledge.

2. New bonus for Patrons: 5e adventures! We are going to try this for the next few months as a free bonus and see how everyone likes it. The lovely crew at Kelf's Tales will be compiling a monthly 5e adventure / 1 shot along with some stats every month to compliment the Patreon current monthly bundle. While not all models will be statted / used, it should be a fun bit of extra content to help you incorporate the VoidRealms stuff into your tabletop games :) This month (October) is the inaugural month for the 5e adventures; the goal is to release the adventure in the third week of each month, but this first one will come just a bit later as we ramp up that offering.

3. Lastly, November models are ready to go and looking good! I want to thank everyone for their patience this month with the lighter quantity of models. Next month's set is really well rounded, I think, and should be a lot of fun to print and use. And it will be ready to drop right at the beginning of the month, as soon as all payments process. NOVEMBER full lineup: Children of the Outer Gods

Really excited to share this release with you all! Continuing to build on the Shub Niggurath theme, I incorporated some Azathoth elements and am releasing a set of cosmic horrors to headline this bundle. Both original creations, Azaron: Cacophony of the Stars and Meldara: Daughter of Shub Niggurath are the twin offspring of Azathoth and Shub Niggurath. (side note: while Meldara herself is an original design, you can find stats for a "Daughter of Shub Niggurath" in Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos 5e collection.)

Here's the full lineup:

1. Azaron: Cacophony of the Stars (120mm cosmic horror) This guy has a strange growth from his shell that lets out horrendous piping noises in concordance with the Servitors, like an otherworldly, living organ.

2. Meldara: Daughter of Shub Niggurath (100mm cosmic horror)

3. Flying Goatspawn - (not pictured in the group shot) this uses the upper section of Meldara only and adds arms + floating rod to make another huge monster.

4. Tree of the Mother (61mm tall / huge) an eldritch piece of living terrain

5. Servitors of the Outer Gods - 4 varieties: Levitating, Winged, Wingless, and Goat Legs. *There are bonus unsupported versions included with alternate cyclopean heads.

6. Shaman of Shub - A nice, multipurpose eldritch sorcerer / warlock or nefarious shaman. *A bonus (presupported) bust is included in this release.

Spiral Horrors Kickstarter - Test Prints!

October Previews - part 1

**updated 27.September with renders of the Black Goat** The Black Goat is an omen that Shub herself is starting to influence the area in which it appears, and heralds her coming....

Hey everyone!

I have been slammed working on the Kickstarter... but I have not forgotten about the Patreon. I'm actually very excited for next month, because it will begin the Shub-Niggurath cycle. Shub's creatures will cover the next few months. October's set will be subtitled "Sucklings of Shub."

I've got previews ready now for almost all of the monthly lineup:

1. "Sucklings of Shub," a set of smaller minions / demons, which includes the Ploppers (3x), Flyer, Walker, and Nippers (5x, 2 of which are NSFW). The set of 2 Nippers is NSFW, so view with caution (I've blurred the, um, male section on the male version.)

2. The Luminous Moth (large/ huge?), which has several lower torso options depending on what you're feeling (or if you want to make a few mutant moths!) *The moth will come with a rod and a slot in its back if you're want to mount it in the air.

3. The Black Goat of the Woods, herald of Shub. A nightmarish beast.

****Yet to be revealed is the Milk Station (cosmic horror) that should be coming right around the end of this month. I can't WAIT to show you this one, it's very different. The Milk Station is just... weird! It's meant to be this cosmic entity that's part monster / part terrain and serves as a feeding station for Shub's children. Stay tuned :)

After the poll results, Azathoth was clear winner as the preferred mate of Shub, so November will feature "Children of Azathoth" where I'll be concocting some mashups of Shub and Azzie, including an original cosmic horror and maybe a sculpt or two from the Mythos (maybe more Sucklings?)

I want to thank all of you guys in advance for your patience next month - I will not be releasing quite as early in the month like normal due to the simultaneous Kickstarter launch. My goal is to release October Patreon files on the 15th or so - though I will try to upload the unsupported versions before that.

First Look: VoidRealms Kickstarter Campaign!

These gorgeous models, painted by @Lentasy on Instagram, are two of the models that I've sculpted for my first Kickstarter campaign launching in October - "The Curse of the Spiral."

Inspired by Junji Ito's classic horror manga, Uzumaki, I've whipped up a collection of Spiral horrors including these two models shown here - the Spiral Dragon, and one of the Slugmen!

October Monthly Poll!

For this poll: WHICH Lovecraftian Outer God should Shub-N. mate with to produce a cosmic horror offspring?!

October-December will feature the infamous Lovecraftian Outer God, Shub-Niggurath and heroffspring! This will give me the chance to do a lot of wild/ fun creatures, finishing up with Shub herself in December. We can explore Sylvan (forest) themes, fertility themes, mutant offspring, all sorts of stuff. COMMENT BELOW on what you'd like to see under the umbrella of this dark, evil fertility deity who bears the monicker "Black Goat of the Woods."

Those who have supported me for a while know that these polls are more meant to generate ideas rather than dictate any kind of specific set or theme. I value the discussion in the comments below tremendously as well in helping me form the lineups as well!

So... if I were to make an original cosmic horror that was the offspring between Shub and another Outer God, which Outer God should the horror's "father" be?!

September Full Lineup: "Sleeper of N'Kai"

Hello!

Here is the full monthly lineup for September:

1. Tsathoggua (cosmic horror): An epic Great Old One that is suitably large and complex for the tabletop. He seeps Formless Spawn from wounds on his body and boasts a nightmarish set of nesting heads. Formless Spawn Wounds can also be their own enemies if desired.

2. Voormian Hydra (huge): 5 serpentine Formless Spawn heads + an unsettling human face make for a nightmarish encounter that could be more puzzle driven rather than combat centric.

3. The Dark Shepherd (large): A powerful, amorphous being that can bend the Formless Spawn to his will.

4. Voormis Warrior Tribe (modular Warriors, multiple hands / head options + a priestess and shaman variant.) The Voormis worship Tsathoggua and are a primitive offshoot of the human race that dwell in Mount Voormithadreth.

5. Formless Spawn Heads (set of 4): These heads will fit onto the bodies from last month's Formless Spawn. I'm trying to find time to make 1 or 2 new bodies this month, but that may not happen with all the prep work I'm doing for my upcoming Kickstarter campaign.

6. Hydra Severed Heads: 2 bodies, and each body has either a head hardwired into it or a  slot so that you can use any of the Formless Spawn heads from last month, or this month.

SEPTEMBER previews: Tsathoggua (COSMIC HORROR!)

Here's the epic model of the Great Old One, Tsathoggua!

This is an advanced, multi part kid that is surrounded by 5 Formless Spawn, which can be placed to look like they are seeping from various wounds on Tsath's body. He's got 6 arms, 2 vestigal wings, and some horrifically nesting heads :-)

The bottom belly section can slide out independently from the main body if you'd like to swallow a brave hero with his belly mouth....

There's also a staircase piece which can serve as a fighting platform or sacrificial altar to the Sleeper of N'Kai.

I'll try to put together a video with a turnaround and explanation of all the parts soon!

SEPTEMBER previews: Voormian Hydra!

The Voormian Hydra was another high ranking human priest from the cult of Tsathoggua who managed to merge his soul with the Formless Spawn. The Hydra lives inside the deep caves of Mount Voormithadreth. Attacking its central head is the only real way to damage the beast, as the individual necks will simply respawn or become their own separate entity when severed.

*This is a gargantuan model at around 125mm tall (not including the base.) Necks print separately and the body is split into a couple pieces to fit the smaller print beds.

SEPTEMBER Previews: Voormis Warriors - Modular Tribal Pack

From the Cthulhu Mythos - The Voormis are a race of prehistoric humans who live in / near Mount Voormithadreth and worshop the Great Old One, Tsathoggua.

*This set is a big experiment for me, where I tried to make a bunch of modular / interchangeable parts for you guys to print some units / armies if you want. There's a shaman model, priestess model, then two warrior torsos and three warrior leg options, 10 heads, 5 simple bases, and a variety of hands / weapons. YMMV with attaching some of the heads to the torsos due to the hair.

*If I do more modular things in the future, they likely won't be this complex / have so many parts, since there's a lot to test fit here and, tbh, not my favorite way to spend my time sculpting. Still, it was a good learning exercise to make these guys, and I had fun playing with mixing neanderthal elements with some formless spawn aesthetics. Taking these kinds of risks is one of the great benefits for me as an artist from your support on Patreon, so THANK YOU.

SEPTEMBER preview: Dark Shepherd

The Dark Shepherd was once a human priest from the Tsathoggua cult who rose high in its ranks. He studied the dark magic of the Formless Spawn and eventually managed to melt his spirit and mind into their essence, abandoning his corporeal body for a greater form of power. The Shepherd can gather and control the Formless Spawn and has a direct mental link to Tsathoggua himself.

About 75mm tall, so this is a large / huge monster that will fit on one standard build plate.

September previews: TSATHOGGUA rises!

Next month will feature the Sleeper of N'Kai himself - Tsathoggua!

There are a few models of good ol' Tsath on the market now from other designers, but I couldn't find any that did justice to the intense, epic nature of the Great Old Ones, so I'm really excited to share my design with you all!

The two preview shots in this post are of Tsathoggua and an original VoidRealms concept, the "Voormian Hydra." The models this month are expansions upon the Formless Spawn from last month as well as some things inspired by Mount Voormithadreth from the Cthulhu Mythos / Hypoborean Cycle.

AUGUST previews: Dwellers of N'Kai

Hey everyone - here is the lineup for August!

This is part 1 of the Tsathoggua Cycle. September's set will expand on this theme and most likely see the summoning of Tsathoggua himself.

For August, we have the Dwellers of N'Kai - the classic Cavernous city in the Cthulhu Mythos inhabited by Tsathoggua's Formless Spawn. I wanted to create some original creatures for this set (the Oracle of Tsathoggua, namely) and had a lot of fun proxying Rak Tulkhesh from Eberron in conceiving my model "Valkaryos" (thanks to Chris Jingles for the suggestion there!)

Full lineup:

1. Valkaryos: Archdemon of N'Kai (cosmic horror, 150mm tall) This is a big 'ol demon lord; again, makes a nice proxy for Rak Tulkhesh. Two head variations are included - check out all the renders of him to see the details from various angles!

2. Oracle of Tsathoggua (large, 55mm) The Oracle is the main way Tsathoggua sees beyond his lair; she also accepts sacrifices to Tsathoggua from her temple in deep N'Kai. The Formless Spawn infants vignette with her.

3. Cave Troll (large, 70mm tall, 100mm with Eldritch Serpent) - This standard cave troll can be "infected" by the Starspawn Serpent and comes with an alternate Eldritch head.

4. Starspawn - Eldritch Serpent (70mm tall) - A nice, bizarre snake to throw at your players :)

5. Formless Spawn (mix n' match, various sizes) - Three bodies and three heads mean that you can make some interchangeable Formless spawn. Stay tuned for more bodies and more head varieties next month as well to augment this set!

6. Formless Spawn Infants (32mm tall) - Simple little minions to get the Tsathoggua party started.

JULY Previews: Kaiju of the Dreamlands

VoidRealmMinis will be 1 year old next month! I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for your support over this past year and I can't wait to continue making unique tabletop horrors for you all in 2021 and beyond!

The big, epic lineup I have planned to celebrate is called "Kaiju of the Dreamlands."

Directly from the HP Lovecraft Cthulhu Mythos (and statted in Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu 5e book), we have:

1. Moon Beasts - multiple varieties: 1) regular, 2) priest / mage, and 3) slave trader. Humanoid sized at 32mm scale.

2. Hound of Tindalos - Everyone's favorite time-traveling demon hound. Large, about 55mm.

3. Corrupted Purple Worm (Huge, 100mm tall) - The Head section of the Purple Worm. Statted and designed in collaboration with  5e Magic.Shop!

4. Corrupted Purple Worm (sentient tail) (Huge, 100mm tall) - This is the tail of the purple worm and its own independent monster, capable of spawning a series of flying Oni Demons.

5. The False Form of Batan-Hisnu: Protector of Death (Huge, 100mm tall) - This is a VoidRealm Minis original, inspired loosely by the Angel of Death from Hellboy II, and the challenger / defender of Universal order against Vol'Shorm.

6. Vol'Shorm: Harbinger of Oblivion (Gargantuan / Cosmic Horror, 150mm) - Vol'Shorm was designed in the vein of classic Japanese Kaiju from the 60s. Vol'Shorm swallows beings into his central mouth / Vortex where they are truly "Obliterated" outside of the natural life / death cycle of the Universe - a dangerously unstable process.

7. BONUS: Hunting Horror, 100mm tall, in collaboration with the Atlas team

Live Sculpt in Virtual Reality

Here's the cosmic horror, "Mligleth." He's BIG and nasty (173mm total height)

There's an open and closed version of his head. The open version features a couple of unfortunate souls, and a strange doorway....

Just a warning that some of the imagery / figures in this guy might be disturbing for some; I aimed for a Kingdom-Death level sculpt that was simultaneously goofy, deeply disturbing, and just "off." I hope you all dig him!
