This month's article is the Ren'Py Developer Update for October 2024. As I've been working on getting the next fix release ready, I don't have a ton of features to talk about this month. And so, this month's article is a bit different - in addition a quick update on Ren'Py development, I've asked the Patreon community for questions and answered them.
Thanks for your support, and thanks for everyone w...

Hi, everyone.
Things are back to normal with me, more or less, and that means I'm working on getting Ren'Py 8.3.3 out the door. Since an article that's mostly about fixing bugs isn't very interesting, I thought that I'd open the floor to patrons to ask me any question you want.
I reserve the right to pass if a question is personal, political, or private, but I think it might be fun to find out what people are interested in. To ask, just reply with a comment on this post.

Greetings, Ren'Py supporters. I've (with a bit of delay), released the Ren'Py Developer Update for September 2024. Some of the things I've accomplished this month include making two fix releases of Ren'Py, removing a lot of now deprecated functionality, and updating the version of Python Ren'Py uses. I've also done a bit of work on Ren'Py Sync. And then I got sick for a bit, but thankfully I'm better now. ...

... today's developer update will be delayed for a day or two, as I was diagnosed with a medical condition that put me into the hospital, at this point mostly for monitoring. I'll post it when I get home. If for some reason you don't get it in a few days, email me and I'll make sure you get what you're entitled to,

Welcome to the Ren'Py Developer Update for July 2024. The focus of this month was whittling down the list of tasks I had before making an 8.3 and 7.8 prerelease, and that's gone very well. This month's article talks about some of the new features and other changes that happened in July.
Thank you for your support!

Welcome to the Ren’Py Developer Update for May 2024. This month’s article is a bit different, as Text Shaders are done and documented, so there’s not much more to write about them. Instead I thought it would be interesting to look at my logs and talk about everything I did in a month, to show the process ...

Welcome to the end of March, and happy holidays for those who celebrate.
This month had a lot of development on the next major release of Ren’Py, focusing on the audio filter feature. And along with that, you’ll be getting access to a tool that will let you try out some of...

This month’s developer update covers what I’ve been working on in February, and what you can expect from the next major release. It’s been a bit of a slow month, mostly consisting of very minor fixes after a stable release, while at the same time working on figuring out where I want to go next. But steady progress is still progress, and your support helps.
Thank you.

This month's article is the January developer update. This one's a bit shorter than usual, and covers a few new features that were added to Ren'Py just before the Ren'Py 8.2 and 7.7 release, as well as some initial thoughts about the next versions. It's also the first developer update of Ren'Py's third decade of development.
Thank you for your support!

I'm happy to announce Ren'Py 8.2.0 and Ren'Py 7.7.0, the latest releases of Ren'Py, the results of months of work by many contributors.
Ren'Py 8.2 is a major release of Ren'Py, containing new features, fixes, and improvements. It is recommended for all new games, and it's strongly recommended that existing games update to Ren'Py 8. Ren'Py 7.7 attempts to match Ren'Py 8.2 in features, while retaining support for Python 2. As some of the new features require Python 3 support, not every n...

Greetings, everyone, and welcome to the July 2023 Ren’Py developer update. This was a bit of a complicated month for me when it came to working on Ren’Py. Earlier this month I had to take a license test (passed it!), during the middle I had a medical issue (better now), and for the last few days I’ve been working on Ren’Py from up in the mountains.
The good news is two new features were added to Ren’Py this month, one of which is done and one of which is still being worked on....
