JB F4 AIO will be back in stock on...

If you wanted to buy my FC but it was out of stock, here's my little gift to you. There is one more shipment coming in some time on Wednesday. (I wish I could be more specific but I just don't know the exact time.)

After that, it will be several weeks until RDQ gets more in stock, although there will be tons of boards showing up at approximately 25 resellers around the globe, so you'll still have plenty of chances to get one if you want.

My Letter To Patreon r.e. Changes To Fee Structure

I sent this letter to Patreon support.

---

I am writing to object to your new fee structure.

As far as I can tell, the motivation behind the new fee structure comes from the desire to charge Patrons immediately when they subscribe. This leads to individual, anniversary-based chargers instead of collective, lump-sum charges at the end of the month. And this leads to increased transaction fees, which has led to the new fee structure.

I can only speak for myself when I say that ...

My new parallel charge board just released

Me and ReadyMadeRC have released a new and improved parallel charge board, and I want YOU to be the first to know about it. Frankly, it's going to sell out immediately and go into back-order, and I figure getting first-shot at it is a privilege of being one of my Patrons.

GIVEAWAY: QQ190 RTF Quadcopter

THE GIVEAWAY IS OVER. A WINNER HAS BEEN SELECTED.

IT'S BEEN TOO LONG since I gave away a quadcopter. What's wrong with me!

This is a really sweet quad. The QQ190 is one of my favorite racing-style frames. It's super durable and flies really well. This comes with the full TBS stack, including 2-in-1 ESCs and FPVIsion OSD and vTX. This quad is totally maintainable with zero soldering.

Meetup with me in Kahului, Maui, Tomorrow

Hi folks.

If you are able to make it, I will be at a meetup in Kahului, Maui, tomorrow, October 6, at 7 PM. Location is Keopuolani park, map link below. All are invited. In theory, there may be some flying, but if there is a big turnout, then FPV channel assignment may become ... complicated.

Live Quadcopter PID Tuning

I'm going to try something really ambitious. I'm going to tune a quad... from scratch... live on the Internet while you watch.

For more info, here is the event link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnYyhI1pn8o

I'm both excited and terrified because this will involve some technical challenges that could torpedo the whole thing. But I'm going to do my best to pull it off, and I hope you'll come watch.

GIVEAWAY: Sperry Clamp Meter

Last week, I told you where you could buy the last-known examples of this AWESOME little portable multimeter. This multimeter turned out to be too expensive for Sperry to produce. They discontinued it, but I found a small FPV shop that had a few for sale, and for only $40!

Of course, you guys cleaned it out in like five minutes. In fact, the shop owner messaged me on Facebook to say, "Did you just post about my multimeter somewhere?" I have no idea how he knew it was me... I guess I have...

$40 Awesome Clamp-Meter That's Not Made Any More

At Flite Fest, Ryan Harrell had this multimeter in his bag, and my jaw hit the floor when I saw it. If it lacked its killer feature, it would still be a great portable multimeter: thin, small, and the probes wind neatly around the housing and clip out of the way. But the killer feature is that IT HAS A DC-CAPABLE CLAMP METER built in.

In case you don't understand how great a clamp meter is, it lets you measure current without having to splice into the wire in question. It's hands-down the easi...

MY FIRST PRODUCT and it's a parallel charge board...

I am INCREDIBLY proud to announce my first branded product. It's the parallel charge board I always wished somebody would make.

Okay... I know that's not sexy like a frame or a flight controller, but charging our packs is something we all have to do, and parallel charging is, simply put, the ONLY fast and cheap way of charging lots of smaller packs, like mini quad pilots use.

What makes this board so good is that it only has 4S balance ports. If you have a bunch of 3S, 5S, and 6S b...

Fatshark Module Test Results: Trial 1

Here are the results from the first round of testing. This test is the "out-and-back" test, where I fly in a straight line down the road as far out as I can go. This test does not involve diversity at all, since the modules should stay on the directional antenna the whole time. The goal is to simply test the raw range of the module.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The AttitudeV4 was using a Triumph antenna, whereas the diversity modules were using both a Triumph and a 10 dBi X-air crosshair. This puts th...

Initial feedback on the Runcam Split

Hi Patrons!

I know many of you are eagerly waiting for my review of the Runcam Split. The full review is coming! I just finished writing an email with initial feedback to Runcam, and I thought you would enjoy if I shared it with you.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND that this is raw feedback and it does not represent the totatlity of my opinion on this product. The goal of this is to help Runcam make the product better, so it focuses very much on nit-picky negatives. There are many positive things whic...
