I've been working on Johnny FPV's "flick" move. Also inverted yaw spins. Here's my last pack of today. I haven't actually flown in like three weeks so it was really good to get back in the air.

Dear Patrons,
I'm starting to think about a series on DSHOT. What do you want to know? Some things I have in mind include:
What is Dshot? Why is it better (maybe) than OS and MS?
Why do some boards not support Dshot? What boards and ESCs support Dshot?
How to flash BF3.1 and use Dshot with supported ESCs and boards. This will also touch on Betaflight resource assignment tool.
A big question that people are wondering is how is the flight performance. That will probably h...

This is a teaser of the work I'm doing on the FPV Receiver Group Two video. This video is very preliminary, but I thought you'd enjoy it. Note that YouTube absolutely destroys the detail in the lower three videos on the return path, so please don't let the muddy gray blocky video affect your judgment. Look for video glitches to see how each module is doing.
All videos have been synced so that they more or less match up with where the copter is at any point in time. Copter's speed has been adju...

Just making sure all of y'all saw this.
PS: Please enjoy this fine example of Southern American English's unique variants on the personal pronoun. "You" - Singular 2nd person. "Y'all" - Plural 2nd person, not necessarily inclusive of 100% of the group. "All of y'all" - Plural 2nd person, inclusive of 100% of the group.

Patrons,
I just finished uploading this, and I'm happy to give you an early look. I'm really happy with this flying. Kevin Dougherty's recent posts of his flying have inspired me to tackle power loops. I think they're starting to come together.

I hope to keep practicing this until it looks natural, especially the "sit on the swing" landing at the end. This was really fun flying, and a very different feel than the big, fast lines I usually focus on. Always nice to mix things up a bit. The whole time I was flying, I was thinking, "Mega Whoop". You know, like a Tiny Whoop, because I was flying in and out around tight obstacles, but this is a 5" 210mm quad, not a little 3" brushed.

This is a good kind of problem to have! I have too many interesting FC's and I can't decide which one to build out next. Help me decide in the comments. Choices are:
Omnibus AIO F3 with Betaflight OSD
Sirin FPV
Furious Kombini (plus super-secret I have one of the very first OSD+VTX boards, so this build could not be made public until that product was cleared for release by Furious).

I post highlight videos of me flying at my best, but actually I'm a relatively timid pilot. I'm not able to just take one pack and bomb the hell out of a new site, or a race course, damn the consequences. Typically, when I fly a new site, basically the entire first flight session is me getting a feel for it. Where the safe lines are. Where the hidden obstacles are. What everything looks like from every angle. Building up a spatial model of the site in my mind so that when I'm flying, ...

This will be the first Quadcopter Choreography video that gets released, probably some time next week. Patrons get an early look. Hope you like it.

This is take two of my Quadcopter Choreography project, "It's All The Same" by Signal Path. In this project, I fly while listening to a song, and try to develop choreography that fits the music well.
I felt that this take was solid enough to show you, but overall I think the first take is better. The flow of the first take syncs really well with the music. But I think you'll enjoy following along the process, warts and all.
In my last post, I said that this stuff might never see the ligh...

I'm working on a new project, and Patrons may be the only ones who ever see it. In one of his vlogs, Skitzo mentioned that he always flies with music. I've seen FGA's performances to music at Dubai and New York, and I would gu...

f you look at any guide to "how to do Patreon", you'll see instructions to make special offers and tiers of membership open to your patrons. That approach doesn't really appeal to me. For one thing, I'm just not a fan of the whole "first class / second class" approach where people who pay more get more access or special privileges. My goal has always been to help as many people as possible enjoy this great hobby by teaching people how to solve the problems that might be getting in the way of the...

I have too much good content and I can't decide what order to release it! PATRONS! Comment with your vote for which video should come out next. (As in, I don't promise it will come out tomorrow, but I will prioritize it in the release schedule.)
KingKong 5040 tri-blade review. Mostly me talking over some acro flying on these props about how they fly, how they tune, and how they stack up to the DYS 5x4x3 I was flying.
FrSky Taranis gimbal upgrade how-to.
Practical PID Tuning ...

Hello, patrons! Normally, before I make a livestream public, I trim off the "starting soon" segment and then I add time indexes to let people jump straight to whatever segment interests them. I also add mid-roll ads (not too many, but some). Currently, YouTube is giving me trouble trimming off the "starting soon" segment, and this is delaying putting the segment up. But I figured I would give y'all an unlisted link if you wanted to go ahead and watch the video now. As a bonus, there shouldn't be...

Folks, Asaf has had to pass on the DJT module, as he is out of the U.S. and shipping is prohibitive. Is anybody within the U.S. interested?
---
I have a FrSky DJT module from back when I had a Turnigy 9x, but now that I have a Taranis I don't really need it. Does anybody out there have a radio with a JR module, and want to get into the FrSky ecosystem? No charge, just you pay shipping.

Practical PID Tuning Part 3: Sunday, June 5

I live-streamed the 60 amp battery testing on a whim tonight. The video has been made private because I don't want to spoil the results, and I also want to make sure I have done a full analysis of the data before making any public conclusions. But I figure this is the exact sort of thing that should be the benefit of patronage, so you all are welcome to watch it at your leisure.
Please don't share this patrons' only link publicly. Thanks.
